I think, at the least, that your first carriage there should be included in the Tropicset.

The standalone graphics don't get used much anymore, it's mostly all sets now. I would think it would make the most sense to contribute this graphic to the BR set, where it logically belongs.

If you are seeking new outlets for your artistic talent, there are quite a large number of unclaimed things in the US set still. If you want something more complex, the Japan set is needing some steam locomotives and I think a few DMUs and EMUs yet, you seem to be good at those.

If you were to make livery overrides for some of the TTD standard engines, I'd use it...
Would require NFO coding though...

Yes, there is lots of (somewhat cryptic) info on the Wiki.

There are no tutorials for newbies, to be honest.
The best way is to get your teeth stuck in doing a load of work and reading through newgrf.txt. If you have that document open all the time while you're making graphics, that's the best way you'll learn.
You will only get good at it by repeatedly actually putting it into practice. Looking at a few simple GRFs helps: the Tropicset is quite a good example, but don't look at the DB set whatever you do. (It's far too complicated.)
And then you have to start worrying about palettes too...

We've already got one in the original Executive Blue, and one in something which just about resembles the Swallow colours. Of course, I'd be able to tell you if I had a use for it if only people would pay attention to what we keep saying about JPEG screenshots

PS - the BR set will be GPL - to use other graphics in them, the licence needs to be compatible.

thats why i made it as a standalone graphic, not to be part of the br set

I'd use png if I could.

Well, it's relatively rare that somebody will use one single vehicle, any given vehicle gets much more exposure as part of a complete set. You can try to do your own set if you like, but it is a little intimidating; you might be happier joining an existing set in progress and working on it, and thus "learning the ropes." And what ChrisCF was meaning about GPL isn't graphics format, all the graphics are GRF files and the GRF converter will accept GIFs or PNGs I believe. He meant the GPL license, in other words, it's free for people to use as long as they keep the credits and the license with it, and don't try to sell it. We've had some arguments over licensing before, which all seems rather pointless to me but apparently not everyone is so freewheeling.

It's rather more than that. It means that people are able to modify the results are they see fit, and can't take it and use it in something which is more restrictive, e.g. the DB set. (The de-GPLing of that annoyed me quite a bit. You can learn quite a bit from looking at the DB set, and Michael has essentially stopped people from doing that. Not smart.)

JPEG is designed for photographs, where colour accuracy and resolution are not important, but to evaluate these graphics, the resolution needs to be tip-top and the colour needs to be visible in all its glory ;)
Bugzilla available for use - PM for details.
