Alstom Train Set?

Post by alliekins »

OpenTTD enthusiast and curious new NewGRF artist/programmer here!

I work for Alstom right now, who makes a lot of trains/trams as you guys probably know. I was wondering, would anybody be interested in me making an Alstom set? In some cases I could even work from the train's original spec, for Ultimate Realism Quotient. Or are most Alstom trains covered pretty heavily in the various European renewal/modern sets?

Well, there are train sets for many different countries, UK and USA being two prominent ones, but there are German, Swedish, Japanese, Serbian, Czech, Spanish sets and so much more. http://grfcrawler.tt-forums.net/index.p ... st&cid=101 <-- This is a list of all NewGRF trains for TTD, more or less. *Here* is a Pendolino from UKRS, for example

I've got a Pendolino from the BRset I'm more than happy to throw into the set. It's not quite finished but I should have it done in a couple of days.

Currently in Virgin livery, but I can 2cc it easily enough. GPLv2 or CC-BY-SA-NC

Sounds good audigex, will that be sprites or code as well? And yeah, I'm a big fan of 2CC.

Based on the link from Chrill (thanks btw) and my own searching it looks like a some people have the Pendolino, and there's a set with the TGVs... and a couple of incomplete tram sets with the Citadis included. I think it's worth pursuing a set. Here's what I would like to see for a modern set, at least...

Trains:
Pendolino
TGV
AGV
Coradia LINT
Coradia Continental
Coradia Nordic
Coradia Duplex
Juniper
X'Trapolis
Eurostar

Commuter/Subway, probably implement as trams:
WMATA 6000
BART C
London Underground 1995/6
NYCT R160

Trams:
Citadis

And, on another note, I've attached my first set of (preliminary) sprites. These are for the WMATA 6000: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... Avenue.jpg

Do they look right? I didn't put the blue transparency border around them yet, I know. I just want to make sure proportions, etc. are correct here. And I know I need to take in the top-sides a bit, the shape looks more like an R160 right now. Or maybe even a bus.

Sprite only I'm afraid, I haven't tried my hand at nfo coding yet.

Here's the (almost) current state of the pendolino (note that the views with the x's are going to be modified slightly to match those without x's). A couple of minor modifications to go, some of which I've done but don't have on this laptop.

In Spain there are various Alstom trains. The two most important are the the class 100 and the class 450.

The class 100 is a high speed train based on TGV Atlantique. The class 450 is a duplex train used in commuter services:

Also, there are more trains that could be interesting like the class 276 locomotive and the class 114 and 104:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RENFE_Class_276
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serie_114_de_Renfe
http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serie_104_de_Renfe

All of them are in Spain set, You can ask their authors if They allow you to use them.
Sorry if my english is too poor, I want learn it, but it isn't too easy.
