Don't feel bad, it's not an issue of simply not knowing how, it's a more deep-seeded issue with the game mechanics itself, as there is no "underground level" like with SimCity or Simutrans. Tunnels act more like a wormhole than like a cavern beneath a ground level. When this set was originally released, nobody had ever even drawn an underground station. Right now, as far as I know, there are only two such sets, FooBar's Metro Tracks, and FreakNL's original Subway Park.

do they provide real under ground stations? And, if they do, will they work with newgrfs?

Real as in, can you use them? Yes. Real as in there's an actual "underground" level? No. You dig a hole in the ground, you place a station tile and instead of a normal looking roof it has a tile that matches the surrounding ground or concrete.

It is not a newgrf, but a custom patched version of OTTD. You'll need to download and install binary packages if you want to test it out. Again, investigate the linked threads, I've even included anchor links to the most relevant posts (with binaries).

Doesn't look like there are currently any functional precompiled binaries at the moment. Might check over in the TTD Russia forums.
