Re: [BROS] British Rail Openttd Set

Post by audigex »

There's a VERY important thread to read here for anyone wanting to draw for this set. Unless it fits the scale guide, we can't use it at all.

It's also very worthwhile having a quick look through the forum to have a look at what's drawn and what drawing style is being used - it's not necessarily the same style as many other sets.

I'll also be posting up here a list of what's currently in progress or "status unknown" (as in, don't draw it because it may be used, but it might become available later) as soon as I get a chance.

Apologies for the double post here, but I think it's worthwhile keeping it in one post to let people know what not to draw. It's also a sneak peak of what's in progress for anyone who's interested. Ordered approximately by type and class.

Some notes
+Just because something is taken doesn't mean that you can't help, just that you should work with the base model already in use and try to liase with the current artist to avoid making extra work. Some are complete, but many more need extra liveries to be drawn.
+Those in the "Maybe taken/done" are where the sprite has been drawn, but we're still awaiting confirmation on whether or not they are to be used with the set or under the new licensing terms. The best thing to do with these is not to draw them, and come back to them if they are still undrawn when everything else is done.

Definitely taken/done:

-----------------------------------
Right, that list is pretty exhaustive and likely to be accurate (aside from a few which may be in the wrong section, but whatever). Many of them need some work, and some of the bottom set may turn out to not be available, but essentially if you can't see it on either list above, feel free to draw it (after looking here!!!) :-)

If it's in the top list, definately don't draw it, if it's in the top list you can if you like, but be warned that it's likely not to be used (about half of the bottom list is permitted but awaiting technicalities, the other half depends on whether we get permission)

Time for a preview.

Image
As a Western Mail 158 and a Regional Railways/Northern Rail 156/153 combo zoom past on the main line, Brostown TMD bursts to life. As the DRS Class 20 pair makes it's way to the release signal, a newly painted 55 for the local preservation railway joins a Class 46 outside. A pair of EWS 37s lay forgotten and await their next duty.

Hmmmm, somethings don't look right.
The EWS 37s seem to be missing windows.
The Deltic (class 55) looks wrong everywhere, scale, livery etc etc.
The 153 looks too slim, should be as wide as the 156.
Not too sure about the DRS livery on the 20s, looks the wrong shade.
Like the 158 and the Intercity 08 though.

From research it's a silver jubilee A4, coloured blue with silver lining, unfortunately I haven’t found any pictures.

Progress this week has been very positive, with the new archive of Ronstar's wagons, loco and misc. other amazing items. Take a look, you will be impressed too.

Social what? :P

I am 8 hours ahead of GMT, but the hours I am on here mean I can be around working on the set until 8pm GMT approximately.

Now, another quick preview, showing the progress of loco hauled passenger trains. As the yard shunter moves the 3 GIF 37s in preparation for their big move to Spain, an ex-TWPTE 143 and a brand new Parry People Mover await their next stock move. The Class 151 prototype is also awaiting it's future after a few years sitting in the siding. The Brostown TMD Open Day is nearing and guests include a BR blue Class 25 and a special dignitary from York, the DP1 Deltic, being moved into position. Speaking of Deltics, a Porterbrook purple example flies past with a rake of Mk2s, as another special working, consisting of two "McRats" and a rake of Mk1s, heads towards the coast.

That 151 is cracking :D
Not too sure about "DELTIC" though, you can't make out the front end. The Mk1's are too short in my opinion, should be half a tile length or at least as long as the Mk2s.
