The complete train weighing 200 t sounds about right.

Given it's introduction year of 1940, i'd recommend setting the TTD top speed to the vehicles normal cruising speed of 120 kph. That's reasonably high compared to normal 1940's train speeds. Also with 2414 hp it will be at that speed rather quickly. Nice thing, that. :)

this sets coming along nicely, I wish I could help, but I'm lazy :)

I think adding some of those weird, monorail steamers would be nice along with future trains, even try making trains that go past 2050 as the only set Ive seen come close is the tropic refurbishment set, with the last train coming out in 2041 I think

Thanks for the advice, If I'm going into the future I may even consider using maglev trains as-well, I know if you have a maglev and a monorail engine within the same train (this actually works) and then you place some maglev track after a monorail track the train can transfer across, if I was going to expand to maglev I would like to see if you can make a train that will run on monorail and maglev rails (buildable in monorail and maglev depots) to ease with the conversion to maglev.

Um, for now I dont think you can, since really, a monorail just uses one rail with the wheels under the train, with maglevs, it on magnets.

But yes! please! Do make maglevs! I wanna see someone make fast express maglevs for pax and mail and slightly slower but powerful Maglevs for Fright, who wouldn't want their cargo delivered at over 250 MPH! :3

I was working on another early monorail but it started to look weird so I'm taking a break from it, in the meantime I've made another modern monorail that needed doing to carry things like mail and valuables that has high speeds so it can be used on the same line as the express monorail, It's shorter than the express as it won't have as much cargo since the express is for passengers.
Stats:
Name: Shuttle Monorail Train
Designed: 2006
End availability: Never
Weight: 200 tonnes
Consist: 2 driving cars, 4 carriages
Normal Speed: 144 km/h
Top Speed: 300 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: bags of mail passengers
Refits to: Mail, Goods, Valuables, Diamonds, Gold, Food

/\ Nice :3

Try doing some maglevs and some cars to go with it, though for the most part I think they would have stuff in box like shape for aero dynamics, like having a tanker surrounded by a collapsable container that is closed when moving but opens up for access :3

I think it's wise to stick to just one track type. Either monorail or maglev is often replaced by either narrow gauge or metro tracks.

Putting both monorail and maglev trains in one set would make it quite unusable in those cases. Which would be a shame, really.
Unless some fancy parameter option would be introduced that allowed the vehicles to use either monorail, maglev or both track types. :P

A fair point FooBar, maybe I should make 2 separate grfs to solve that, although parameters would be better as you could add more advanced things like making them all ether monorail or maglev, switching them around ect to add more advanced compatibility, we'll have to see what DJ Nekkid thinks first though.

setting a parameter to switch it to maglevs should be rather easy...

Yet another nice set with nice sprites, but no license and no repository :-( It will be lost and crippled as Purno's work this way...

Hmm, I know its a stupid question, but does it cost money to get a GPL license?

Then why do you ask?

No, not even a penny. The license text is freely available and will tell you how to apply it to your work.

Easiest to make it GPL is uploading the GRF to BaNaNaS and choosing there the license. Maybe a note in the GRF description, if you don't have a readme. If you are looking for hosting location for the source, you (and everyone else) are very welcome on our DevZone (where OpenGFX, 2cc, firs etc. already is). There are also plenty of other alternatives, like this forum, GoogleCode, SourceForge, BitBucket, GitHub etc.

Edit: Of course, a very verbose note here on this thread, so contributors are aware, their contributions can be used without asking...

You might find these two websites of interest/use:

http://www.meigselevatedrailway.com/

http://www.monorails.org/tMspages/History.html

Steam Monorails first appeared in 1876!

Am looking foward to trying this set when I next start a new game, keep up the good work.

Great sites thanks for the help, expect some of these monorails to appear in future versions of the set :)

Good good,

I don't have much time, here is the new one:

Stats:
Name: Meigs Monorail Train
Designed: 1890
End availability: 1945
Weight: 100 tonnes
Consist: 1 driving car, 3 carriages
Normal Speed: 45 km/h
Top Speed: 65 km/h
Power: 1,800 kW
Capacity: 160 passengers
Refits to: Passengers, Mail

If possible have steam come out from above the cab on the driving car.

Max combined = 2 when second is added its driving car is moved to back to create a multiple unit.
