Kista Science Tower is the tallest office block in Sweden. Kind of makes it relevant. Also 2nd highest Swedish building after Turning Torso, measuring 120 meters (156m with antenna)

I thought it would be good if I shared my new idea of making angeled buildings a little bit easier. I first did the south east version and then a south west version and becuase the buildings looks kind of the same on the front as on the back you can simply flip the ground tile 180° (red arrows) whitouth any major problem (the garden is upside down and can be fixed easily). The building on other hand can't be turned around 180°, instead you can just switch place with the chimneys and roof windows (green arrows) and maybe adjust the front (delete the entrence for example).

This isn't the best idea but it might help some people and this only works for buildings that looks fairly the same on both sides.

Thanks! In 1 day I managed to make the first Shops and Offices with all construction stages and a snowy one from all 4 angels. The method I used was really a time saver since soon I'll start senior high school and I wont have as much time for the Swedish House set. So my plan is to draw all the necessary buildings (cottages, houses, flats, office block etc) before I begin senior high school and release a beta version of the Swedish House set.

Anyway this is how my Shops and Offices looks like from all angels.

Yes and this building is a good "basic" one. From now on when I'll make Shops and Offices like this one I wont make a new building from scratch I'll just use this one and change the roof, front, details and maybe change the windows and doors etc.

That's a typical Swedish building. Keep the height and we'll soon have a very Swedish city :) We need Swedish roads too, although TTRS3 looks a lot like Swedish roads.. :P

Yes I'm thinking 4 or 5 of these buildings with different color on the roofs and fronts. To make it even more Swedish I'll try to do a few corner buildings aswell so you can have a whole rectangle of these buildings.

I've never thought of that, I just use YARRS roads and rails beceasue I though they look most Swedish, the rails at least.

Yeah, for the roads, there's no need. The rails.. Well, I'm the kind of guy who'd probably never leave the original track design. OpenGFX tracks is enough :P

I think the original tracks are to dark. I guess it's a matter of taste.

Wow, that does look Swedish.. Impressive. I can really see myself living in such an area (oh wait, I do)

Maybe include some houses from "Miljonprojektet?". Huge concrete blocks? :P

Nice  If you take a look at Flats 1, I used to live in that building. It's located in Vasastan Göteborg.

My idea of more modern flats is just those types of buildings.

Photoshop can handle palettes. Here's some attached (TTD Windows palette):

You load them as a swatch. Window -> Swatches -> find the menu on the Swatches palette -> load swatch.

Photoshop is pretty easy to use for drawing pixels. You just need the brush tool set to pencil, 1px, and the eraser. Having fill, magic wand, etc is also useful. You can also have two views on the sprite, one zoomed 100%, the other zoomed 1600% for drawing. Window -> Arrange -> New Window for...

There are lots of other photoshop tips, e.g. I add noise to buildings with shaped pencil brushes. You can also use layers and folders to organise efficiently.

PM me if you need any help with it.

It's neat, but you need to reshade the roof when you flip - the lighting is wrong. The NW roof should be darker the SE roof should be lighter. ;)

cheers,

Really? I thought since the building is just a rectangle that looks the same on both sides and has a triangle formed roof that's facing the same way on both NW and SE version it wouldn't matter. The sun comes from same direction on both buildings so the shading wouldn't be different... not drasticly different anyway.

Same part of town different town  But I don't live there anymore, I've moved to Västerhaninge outside Stockholm.

Oh silly me. The roof is actually darker on the NW then on the SE, it's just verry hard to see. On the SE one I've used a verry dark green.
