Finnish Rail Infrastructure & Stations Set [WIP]

Hmmmm, I'd say make it roughly the size of Kokkola width and height-wise. Looks like a 2 tile station to me.

I've gathered information about station sounds. Station tiles, track or non-track, can have sounds, continuous or with intervals via code.

So. What really would be nice, catenary feeder substations could have 50 Hz buzzing sound which their transformers make. I can record that sound rather easily, on Iisalmi there's one feeder substation. Also for signal/interlocking containers, i have some sound material of relays switching. Recorded material must be converted mono, 8-bit 11025 Hz PCM-WAV's. Not big deal. I do some work on sounds on next week.

Yea I was thinking the same but wanted to know other opinion aswell. Already started new bigger version, will show updates later this evening :)

As promised, here's bigger version. Not sure how the station looks exactly on the end which has the small extension. I got only one picture from that view which is from year 1908 when the station was expanded and building was in progress lol

And i've done first two spritesets for rails in temperate scenery, wood and concrete sleepers. At the moment, when railtypes is not yet on trunk, we do the two rail types user configurable. 1870-1970 should be timed to wood-sleeper track, and 1970-infinity concrete sleeper track. And via switch user would override the rail sprite timing, either to wood or concrete track.

Pikka said that he can code this set. Hmm.... I've got to ask, that would he code those signals, level crossings, those two spritesets, as well as catenary at this point of time for testing purposes, are the rail sprites looking okay with catenary and signals/level crossings.

Track is looking great! So's the CTC tower. Make a nice addition to a large yard area :D

Looks like norwegian tracks, just that the rocks are totally brown over here.. :P There was a Di. 3 here the other day dropping new gray rocks on the tracks! It was awesome to watch. 8)

Very nice graphics. It would be great if Pikka can code it! :D

Yes, these rails are really good. That's the real aspect of a rail: the rail is dark, and the gravels under it are lighter. It can be but, that the gravels are too light for me... But it's good how is it now too. See this picture (real image, look at the rails!):

that's not from Finland I assume? Here's pic from finnish rails which has light gravel under the rails :)

Perhaps the rails could be release as a grf of it's own? Then I could use them when I'm running Swedish Trains, too :-)

At the moment, stations and infra are planned to be released on different gfr's. When the work is mostly complete, the grf's are merged, but separete versions remain.

What i forgot to show: Overlay tracks for switches. Also at the tracking table.

Sorry about double post. I am very happy to announce a first test part release of Finnish Rail Infrastructure set.
Only some new-system signals are on at the moment. More of these coming later.
Thank you very much, PikkaBird, of coding these.

I would like to say thank You for your god work!

Some comments about the finnish signals.

I think it would be more natural if the blocksignal (suojastuspoastin) could show just red and green. They can not show green and yellow at the same time in real life.
The home signal (pääopastin) can show green and yellow at the same time in real life so why not in the game?

I know that very well.
The 1-way PBS, acting as line-starting blocking signal, does show yellow+green same time at the game, just to make difference between "normal" blocking signal. It can be changed to show red and green only, though. Normal blocking signal does show red and green only.
There is, at the moment, normal PBS signal+ PBS semaphore graphics replaced by 2-aspect three-light signal, and 2-aspect two-light signal. In reality, signals are placed like this:
The 2-aspect three-light signal replacing PBS semaphore graphics is showing yellow+green at the same time. They should be placed on siding tracks, they show that there is switch on next block. In reality, this would show three aspects, if there is straight route and route trough switch, but it's not possible in OTTD to show three aspects... The 2-aspect 2-light PBS signals are showing that route is clear, no switches on next signal block on that direction.

Finished Pieksämäki CTC tower. Now i've got interlocking buildings, Taipale, Airaksela/Markkala, Siilinjärvi and Suonenjoki in progress.
