Ooooffffff topiiiiccc: I prefer War Thunder myself, but that's primarily because of the air forces combined with armored vehicles.

I'm trying to checkout the FIRS source via mercurial like it says on the project page (https://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/firs), but no luck

Code: Select all

leif@balapapa ~/projects/openttd $ hg clone http://hg.openttdcoop.org/firs
abort: HTTP Error 404: Not Found

[jth@reina openttd]$ hg clone http://dev.openttdcoop.org/hg/2cctrainset

This looks like a general devzone issue. I was poking around over there but I didn't find a proper place to report the issue.

hey there. im an old player getting back to this so, i found out ECS is dead FIRS is the new thing. i checked out FIRS 3,(w/fix) spent some time with it, its fine congratz but let me share a thing ECS got better and feels missing.
many years ago our clan really enjoyed online coop of long production chains. especially producing cars. i think FIRS could handle them bit more like ECS. perhaps assemblers could require chemicals steel glass engineering supplies petroleum fuel, stock, use all in different ratios, and vehicles to deliver to mines / city dealers, instead of bodies/parts to produce and delivered only to mines. and this all could be moved to extreme. (as steeltown is bit too metal specific and not broad enough for my liking). also vehicle payment could be around double as its hard to produce.
in my opinion that would make it so much more fun, and im sure there are many thinking this way

Hi,
I have suggestion for FIRS "Chemicals" (RFPR) cargo. I checked http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/fir ... emicals.py source file and I detected very low density of this cargo - only 0,65 t/m3.
According to industries, where this "general chemicals" is produced and utilised, it can be wide sort of acids and bases (alkalis). However most of these chemical substances have density greater than water density. For examle, sylfuric acid has density 1,8t/m3, nitric acid has density 1,5t/m3, hydrochloric acid has 1,0-1,2t/m3, water solutions of sodium, potassium and calcium hydroxides have density >1t/m3 too.

Could you change the cargo weight for "Chemicals" to something greater then 1,0? The value between 1,125 (18/16) and 1,25 (20/16) will be great.

Edit:
I have the same suggestion for "Acid" (ACID) cargo. It has density 1,0t/m3, but it should be 1,2-1,8 t/m3. Please look above for real values.

Which economies have you tried?
basic economies are quite short, eg steel economy is longer (unless it changed since I played it). Have look at the website, it has pictures of the cargo flows.
Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.

Ooh! Interesting!

What's changed in Steeltown? Couldn't find changelogs. Is the economy diagram updated?

Docs are updated, but bundles server that serves them online is currently broken. :|

Lots of changes, but the TL;DR list for Steeltown is:
  • vehicles now go to town (widely requested)
  • bunch of new/changed cargos, including salt -> acid chain
  • engineering supplies now more widely available from game start, they're a key input, not the end goal of all the chains
  • limestone more widely available, it's a key cargo for steel chains
I've play-tested, seems to work. Lots of cargos not found elsewhere. :)

Concerning the translations: I have a problem with STR_STATION_BANK_TOP. Is it supposed to be a reference to a bank with money, with fish, or maybe to sit (although the latter seems unlikely)? Or something to do with the Bank Top Bewery? As there is no context, the STR_STATION_xxx strongs are sometimes hard to translate.

@acs121: I think you have to create a DevZone account for that. Here: https://dev.openttdcoop.org/account/register

I can not translate word "requires" into my language (Czech) via page for translations. What is the variable? Is the variable available?

It's the name/location of a UK railway station https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darlingto ... ay_station
There's no special meaning, it just sounds right for the coke oven in UK English.
The railway station was one of the first in the world, but that's co-incidental. :)

Suggestions:
  • translate 'Bank Top' literally?
  • pick an equivalent no-special-meaning place name in your language?
  • just call it 'Coke Oven' or 'Coke Siding'?

'Requires' is from OpenTTD not FIRS, I guess it wasn't translated yet: https://wiki.openttd.org/Internationalization

That string doesn't seem available for translation in trunk. https://translator.openttd.org/project/openttd-trunk
Sorry, it's in nightlies, but not in 1.7.1. Get the nightly build if you want to stay on top with translations :D

Ok, so nothing to do with banks then.
I was meaning to find something an equivalent no-special-meaning place, but lacked the context to do so. Thank you for the tip!
