Firs needs some US heavy industry economies - I'd aim to tack it on as an official part

"rust belt" already sounds like a Andythenorth name! Allegheny or Algonquin or something North Eastish sounds appropriate too.

Oftcrash, you've given me some ideas ..

Your idea making the industry sets depending what part of the country you want. I like to try do same with my AuzInd160. The Industries I started doing based on New South Wales, Australia. Wonder if I can give players choice what part they want to play as well. I'll add this to my forum and see what feed back I get and see if worth following up.

Thanks pal

Yeah but the Rust Belt is a real nick name for the industrial area around Lake ontario....

Like like Steel Town is a nick name for Hamilton, Ontario, or The Big Smoke is another nick name for Toronto.

Well with all the Nickle mines and industry, Sudbury, Ontario is also known as the "Nickle City" or "Nickle Capital"

I've also heard some people call it the Big Nickle :P

I just remember going through Sudbury as a kid. Looked like a warzone or another planet. I did take the tour under the Nickel though :)

Is it possible to make FIRS in 32bpp without significant amount of efforts?

Is this a rhetorical question? :) Given the GPLv2 licence, it definitely should be possible.

Well, "possible" as in, "somebody feels motivated to do so".

I think that maybe the answer was given from the unexpected angle.

Given that you are interested in creation of graphics then actually adding them into the set is not hard at all. :)

What I am actually more interested about is the settings you would like to this to happen. That is, what other graphics you are using?

I'm using 8/32 bpp Trains 2CC, RAWR, Russian Trains 32bpp and Pineapple Trains (10CC). Also I've added FIRS and it looks nice despite 8bpp grapihcs at default zoom level.

Unfortunately, I'm not an artist and not sure if I could make some graphics (although I'm familiar with Blender a little). If only I could… :(

In2012, Zephyris did show test some 32bpp sprites for FIRS, but it was only a couple of examples, and wasn't developed further.

download/file.php?id=165206

If someone wanted to do this, they'd need to fork FIRS, I have no interest in supporting the 32bpp option, nor maintaining it, and I don't want it to be a constraint on future FIRS development :) But a fork is no problem if someone wanted to. There are already 3 or 4 FIRS forks for other projects ;)

It would be nice to have a 32bpp version of FIRS someday, I do play 32bpp once in a while but I get bored of using OpenGFX industries (to enable a bunch of default industries in any climate)

32bpp FIRS with Pikabirds 32bpp Pineapple trains would be fun :)
