Well there ya go, problem solved, damn fast too.

Oops, I didn't put this on the wiki yet. You need at least nightly r13375 to run the extended set properly. You can use a grf parameter to force the extended set to load in 0.6.2, but there will be serious bugs with the stats and appearance of vehicles before 1920.

YukonRob, that clipping appears to be caused by the reserved path, I expect every trainset has that problem.

SkeedR, thanks, I'll fix that.

Not sure if this is what you mean or not. I turned off 'show reserved tracks' saved and reloaded and it still clips (r14245).

Perhaps it's the foundation tile then. In any case, it's nothing to do with the set and nothing that I can fix.

It was the foundation tile. Great set!

Pikka & Dan,

Congrats on the release! I imagine I will eventually get up to the fuel cell switchers, but when you start in the early 1800s it's a long, long haul to the 20th century.

Thank you both SO much for all the hard work. I love the "golden age of railroading" from 1880-1929, so this set is a dream come true. And four different 2CC liveries! Wow! I have to start playing around with those to see which one looks best with Shawmut green & yellow (or Corman red & white, or my usual dark blue & gold, etc. . .)

If I may, let me suggest one more locomotive for later addition: http://www.ahrtp.com/HallofFameOnline2/ ... dstack.htm

This critter should fall in between the Norris and the 4-4-0 American in both date and performance.

Okay, one more:

Okay! The sprite errors reported have been fixed (hopefully) in 2.0pb4.

Problem is they weren't that common ;) 4-2-0's were pretty rare, and after the 4-4-0 was introduced, they became obsolete.

You're right. And those beefy (for the time) 2-2-2 s on the bottom of the ocean off the Jersey coast were even rarer. I'm just a sucker for those little animated teakettles, from the smallest 0-4-0T to all the screwball logging engines to the NYC "999".

found a graphic bug.
When you reverse an engine (the first one, or a single engine) in depot, in openttd, instead of the engine an arrow appears.
When the train is outside the depot it's displayed correctly (and reversed).

That's not a bug. The arrow means that that vehicle should not be reversed, either for realism (it is a locomotive that cannot lead the train backwards) or to reduce the sprite count (displaying short wagons correctly when reversed would effectively double their sprite count, for no visual or gameplay benefit).

Hudson Eats A Bug

Post by wallyweb »

I took delivery of my brand new Hudson from the depot.
As I drove it out of the depot, a bug flew out of sky and smacked my brand new Hudson right on the nose.
It must have been an albino bug. You can see one of it's white antennas stuck to the front of the engine.

Who's a giving me the gears?

Post by wallyweb »

Wallyweb Enterprise Builders (WEB) received a call to submit a proposal for industry and rail development from the local authorities of TTDXland.
We showed them our catalogue. They were very impressed with NARS2 as a rail system and George's ECS Industries for its wide variety of transportation opportunities.
We took it back to our labs to run similations for our proposal.
All was fine, until we established a lime quarry and a cement works.
It seems that the lime quarry wants to produce regearing and the cement works requires Gear Ratios. Not very conducive to the efficient production of cement, and how does one load regearings into an ore wagon outfitted for gear ratios??

We discussed it in the lab and our technician suggested that it might be our configuration for the simulation. George's ECS must be loaded before towns and roads, so we loaded ECS before everything. Perhaps if we loaded NARS2 before ECS ...
That seemed to work, but ... WAIT! WAIT! ...
Gears all limed up
Gears all limed up
Gear_ratio_1950.png (51.72 KiB) Viewed 5750 times
Now we have limestone for gearing. How the heck can we use limestone to regear an engine? How many tons does it take?

Before anyone suggests dropping one of the ECS vectors, the local authorities tell us that is not an option. They want the full benefit of ALL of the vectors.
Perhaps someone knows of a parameter in NARS2 to disable this regearing fiasco?

Simozzz, the bigger-looking car is a sleeping car. What mix of cars a passenger train gets depends on a number of factors including how long its route is.

It have same size in the depot.
And what about disapearing of this sleeping wagon? :| Which factor make it disapear?

And another small bug with EMD SD45. At the "New vehicles"window it have 104km/h, at depot 112km/h and at the regearing window 114km/h,120km/h and 144km/h. So which speed is true speed?

Yep, it's too slow in the buy menu, and a typo in the regearing text. Should be 112 all round. Thanks!
Which factor make it disapear?
Presumably the distance to the next destination. That variable is possibly some random number if the train has no orders. :)
