Has been proposed extensively, and always rejected.

There's a known workaround, though: with tram tracks and articulated road vehicles, a tram set can include vehicles the size of a metro, and the stations can be cut-without-cover, that is, one tile of tunnel opening, a one-tile-station, and then the next tunnel opening.

Hmmm... Im just wondering if there would be anyway to use the enhanced bridgheads functionality in TTDP with a GRF station. If you make the ground butt right up to the station 'roof', all you need is to make the sprites for that station with flat ground above them and it will blend in like a tunnel etc. Of course, this certainly doesnt make them actually underground but would be eye-candy at the very least.
Just a thought...

I of course, would not know how to do it.. (dah  ), but is it possible?

You say that it might be done in TTDP, but if (or when) newgrf will be available in OTTP, should'nt it be easier to make there?

I know that for me, this would open up a hole new dimension when it comes to gameplay. :)

I did present an "underground station" needing no further coding a while ago:

Hi Blunck,

Where is the tunnels? And in how big can the station be? It looks great. :)

The tunnels are enhanced tunnels (look under Graphics, I guess); the station is just a regular station, one level below the rest of the area. Disadvantage of doing this with trains rather than trams is that trains will sorely miss signals; but signals would use up one tile extra on each side of the station, taking away the effect of Mr. Bluncks layout.

Ben's work around is certainly possible and has been mentioned many times before. Just that none has drawn it.

Michael's solution is also perfectly feasible with .grfs available right now.
The idea of an underground station has already been partially explored in the Canadian stations set with Gare Centrale.

Practical: No
Would work in TTD Internal Design: No
Theoretical: No

There is 3:0 for No as semi official answer...

It wasn't a suggestion, it was a question. I added it as a suggestion at a later time. Of course, Mods can move it if they feel that is appropriate.

Michael24, try searching for BK Tunnels, they should give you a look like what MB has above. MB did have a similar set too but I dont think they were released.

Hi there

I also think that Jezulkim's Station Set is doing a brillant Job for building undergrounds...

Best regards,

Hi krtaylor :) , thanks for asking - I love them too!

But I think they are quite common: All the credits go to Zimmlock for the Total Town Replacement Set 3.02a. If you set the third Parameter to >2< and wait until the year of 1970 you get those bridges:

(If you take a little bit care what other road- or bridgesets you have installed on what position in your cfg-file)

At least with the patch it will work like this.

Best regards,

Carlo
