I don't know. For some reason my TTDPatch doesn't work anymore. I'm still trying to figure it out. Could someone possibly test it?
As You can see on picture new terrain works fine!
And about that new water! It is made by lepkka! In TTDPatch they work finely together!

Looks very nice, great work Kolijn :D Keep it up!

There are little breaks in the coastline (in the corners), in ISA's pictures. Besides this it looks really good together.

you should read a little more closely, the water isn't drawn by him but by lepka.

Nice work, only thing that bugs me is these bright spots on the SW coast tiles:

--edit--
I see those are the original sprites, likely used by the new-water, so I gues you can't change them.

Thats the TGV Atlantique by Purno.

In TTD, light comes from the east, not the north-east.
Hmm. Not that easy though. I try to stick to the lighting setup, but the rocks just seem like shaded forms. You have to get the round look as well as the rough look. I'll work on it.

Good. I re-installed my TTD Patch as well, and I'll confirm. It works. I'll contact lepkka about the water.

I can't actually do something about this. If you look carefully, you'll see that the corner that is incorrect is actually part of another tile. And there are no sprites that can fix it. Sorry, but it can't be fixed. :(

Nope you haven't missed it. The selectors is just a small grf that replaces the buldoze tiles. Try to buldoze some ground and you'll see what I mean. There was no real reason for making them.

I have read it closely (what I meant with together was Kolijn's new terrain and lepka's new water), but I wasn't sure which causes the problem I mentioned  Maybe, I was not that clear 8)

And thanks for clarification on this, Kolijn :)

I guess it *could* be fixed...maybe... but you;d need to speak to Lepka I suppose?!

Very nice work.
May I ask if there exists already a published version?
Or is it work in progress, not released yet?

Are the trees from "Stolen Trees grf" or are they integrated in the terrain?

umm, yes the trees are from the stolen trees grf, but the "official" release by SAC. For a download of the terrain grf, look at the first post in this topic

Anybody got any comments on the rocks? I need to know if I should make the rest of the tiles in the same way, or draw something different

I've downloaded it and it's really nice. Good work!

New stones do not seem to be included but I saw the screenies.
I think the default stones are not bad and fit better than your preview.
Don't know what you can change, maybe start new stones from scratch.
I think they are more like gravel than like big boulders.

Someone already mentioned: The slopes sometimes look like just brighter grass. In some way the slope-effect is not that apparent.

There's something very wrong with the Action 8 in newterrain.grf - the part that provides the grf name and description. You can see what I mean in the newgrf gui window.

I also did notice that.
I thought it is due to development of the grf.
But if it's easy to correct, do so (Kolijn). The grf is spreading (hopefully)...

He could try to make one with gridlines, that should make slopes more obvious.

Unless you want to keep it as it is, I think you should also edit out those gridlines from the railway track sprites. They do stand out a lot, as does the grass, which is different from yours.

I'm currently working on the tracks, as well as the road tiles. I've sent a pm to lepkka, but I havn't received anything from him yet. It's school holidays for us next saturday, so then i'll be able to do much more work. :)

I think the slope isn't clear because of the missing gridlines: Those make it clear that the land is at an angle. The way it's done now it just isn't clear that it's a slope. The bending of a straight feature accentuates a slope, so with a road crossing it would be clear i guess.

New terrain grf release

Post by Kolijn Wolfaardt »

Okay, I've finnished all the remaining terrain sprites. The sprites I added were the rails, the roads, the rocks and the bare land sprites. Download it and tell me what you think.

Leppka said he would prefer to keep his water grf's seperate, so I used my water sprites. I'll work on them, since I am not happy with them.

P.S. could someone test this version in TTDPatch? My TTD patch is not working(again). :)

Nice, thanks i'm using it right now..

But some problems appear..

First you should make some switches, because if someone uses roads grf or railroads tracks it will make it look bad, and right now the only option is to put newgrf terrain in first place of everything and let the others overrun it.. :)

Could you try to get permission to redraw the different roadsets to be compatible or get them to make a set with your gras?

would be great! love the look of my game now...
OTTD absolutly needs:
- diagonal clearing (for fast simple building)
- building on tunnelheads (for tighter junctions)
