I was debating wether or not to put FS98 back on my computer. After
seeing this new set of classic and vintage aircraft for TTDX, I know what
I'm going to be doing after I test this out! Really excellent work,
Pikkabird!

Okay, v1.01 is up. Apologies for any inconvenience.

- Slight increase to the purchase price of the 747.
- Slight increase to the purchase price of the 777.
- Decrease in the running cost of the 777.
- fixed graphic glitch in the S-92's rotorblade sprites.
- Added "Roku" to the name of the JTech J-1 Roku.

Agreed. Tell me more about this render-thingy? Did you render these sprites from 3D models?

He made 3d models and rendered them as sprites at TT-Scale. Is there anything wrong with that? :p

The larger sprites can be seen rotating on the official site.

Nothing wrong but amazing. No wonder they look so good but let's not forget the different stages. I assume the speed-dependent graphics callback was used to its full extent here.

Yep, that's right. the process for creating the sprites, approximately, was:

1) create a 3d model of the aircraft from drawings and photo references.
2) rescale the model to fit TTD better (generally, this involved increasing the diameter of the fuselage and the chord of the wings).
3) attach the model to an animation rig and render the sprites required.
4) open the sprites in paint shop pro, apply the TTD pallette, and tidy up the sprite (clean up the edges of CC areas, redraw windows and other fine details which are lost when rendering).

The models were created in milkshape 3d and rendered using 3d studio max.

Edit: Hyro, I'm not sure what you mean by "speed-dependent graphics callback". The graphics are varied using action 2s based on a number of factors, including movement state, speed, and altitude.

Probably. Of course, the tricky part is setting up the lighting and scale so that it looks right compared to other TTD sprites.

Not sure if this is a bug, but with only the pb_av8.grf active, I can only get a handful of aircraft and only 1 helicopter.
Even if I use cht:allvehicles and jump to year 2200.

(This is when I'm on my home computer, have yet to test my Universatity).

If that's the exact filename, you've got a test version.

The full file is pb_av8[d] or [w] depending on version of TTD.

I think, that for Aviators Aircraft Set now it is necessary to create big airports.
