Does UKRS work in Sub-tropical, I've had a play around with it, but not got it to co-operatate, perhaps I am missing a value or something in my cfg...?

EDIT: found some parameters at http://www.pikkarail.com/ttdp/ukrs/download.htm, but no mention of sub tropical :(

It's worked for me on TTDP.

I believe there's another one called UKRS (A Place in the Sun) or something.

It's on Pikka's livejournal?

I'll go investigate that, if find his livejournal (a link would be helpful, might save a bit of time looking around, no idea where it would be personally xD) I'm also using OpenTTD, if that makes a difference?

ack, nevermind, I found it: http://users.tt-forums.net/pikka/wiki/i ... in_the_Sun

It was a replacement when it goes obsolete in 2000 or so that I was hoping for :). If the lack of a replacement is intentional then I can work around it.

Well that's what I was saying, in reality there is no replacement to the class 20 in real life. The few services that need a loco of that type just keep the 20s soldiering on.

There are still 20s today, well over 50 years old.

And they're still bloody good!

The Class 20 is basically the GP9 of the UK. Versitile, easily rebuildable, found pretty much anywhere and older than dirt... lol

Sadly not found quite as anywhere as they used to be, but these things were much more common in the mid-90s when they were still, even then, as old as dirt!

I love the 20s merely for the style and how they work, and I hope they can bring more than a few to preservation.

Yeah, I have fond memories of watching a quintuple-20-headed MGR train in South Wales in the early 1980s. Quite incongruous, when 2 class 37s could have done the job. I guess none were available that day.

It's the over-cautiousness of DRS that amuses me - clearly they're not always sure things will work on their ancient 20s and 37s so for the sake of one nuclear flask they'll have 3x20+2x37+wagon

:D Happy days :D

I imagine their contractual penalty for a flask train breaking down is astonishing...

And that they have a load of (seemingly) Octogenarian trains. The breakdown stats can't be that good.

Bwaha. Fair point. The idea is that you'll never see a DRS flask train on it's own. Which is good because the 20s are crap on their own!

preferrably a configurable one...

Does anyone know of a train set that has configurable passenger and freight maglev trains?

Why? Which MagLev system do you know of that transports freight?

The fantasy one in original TTD. Not everyone is a "realism" player... some of us actually play for fun. ;)

Well, first define "realism" and then "fun". 8)

Because I think we´ve been already through the first one, let´s concentrate on the latter. IMO, it´s no "fun" to play with "unstructured objects" like the original TTD vehicles were. Not only do they lack variety from a graphical POV, but they´re all uniform with regards to their possible field of application.

In contrast, in the newer train sets, you´ll find incomparably more variety, part of this being the "restriction" that you´re not allowed to transport cattle and coal by maglev.

Needless to say that only jerks would feel something as "limitation" which really is an aquired taste. :P

regards
Michael
