Some of the old Tropicset steamers show the firebox flickering from the rear of the cab.

Also, I notice that the artist forgot to properly color quite all the views of the tenders.

Nice seeing things progressing here.

About the back of the steamers: Purno is right, you will see it in curves, so you have to texture that part as well. It can be a bit less detailed than the rest, coz you will see it rarely, but a black blotch like that wouldn't really be a nice thing to see...

When will you finalize the list of the steamers? The Britons had some of the finest machines of the like ever built, maybe if you show what needs to be drawn there (with the relative links to pics etc) I might try and see if I can find some free time in my hectic schedule...

no promises though, I already have a set to work on, and that needs a lot of work ;)

I'd like some input about the steamers, Snail. I have very little idea of types - as I mentioned in the list post, I only know the famous locomotives. Thus, others' input would be nice here.

EDIT: Editing a post 12 hours old... tut.

We need to decide early on what emphasis we are having in the set. Shall it be a set focussed on the mid-20th Century BR? Or the more up-to-date and recent version.

/invites discussion :D.

I myself don't like steamers. I like diesels, electrics and loads of MUs. Tho every 'age' in TTD should have enough trains.

Besides, do you guys already got a tracking table on the net? When you got pics of the trains you want to have, and wrote which are already drawn and not, artists can start drawing

I think we need to finalise our list before we build a tracking table, the list I posted is far too large, I think. We need to group them together or something, or cut locomotives out. I may be able to enlist the help of someone like Andel to assist with that task.

Why?

Ok, I did some calculation. According to http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php?page=VehicleIDs there's 116 IDs for rail vehicles if you wanna replace all vehicles from all climates (which I suggest you to do, I also suggest you'd make the set available for all climates).

The list you posted contains;
Steamers: 0
Diesels: 19
Electrics: 8
DMUs: 17
EMUs: 30
Rolling Stock: 23
Third Rail Engines: 0
Third Rail Rolling Stock: 0

That's 97 vehicles. Assuming each vehicle uses up 1 ID you got 19 IDs left.

Ok, you mightt want to reduce the amount of EMUs a bit.

I wasn't aware that the set could be made using EVERY ID. This makes things much more interesting!

EDIT: Incidentally, All the EMUs that are 4xx class, and the last few 3xx (except the Pendolino) are all ThirdRail..

Exactly... but looking at my busy schedule, I don't think I would be able to draw any of those wonderful steamers anyway, although I'd love to

Indeed - but as I said, I don't have an extensive knowledge of the steam age, so if someone could come up with a short list of famous locomotives, or something.

The A4 is a cert, but I don't know any others.

Wouldn't the TTO/TTD original vehicles be a good start? And what about spying at the UKRS?

Those lists do look rather, hmm, long. Remember that there is only a limited amount of vehicle ID's that can be used. I don't know the actual number, but one of the gurus can provide that.

116 total, including engines, wagons, and donkeys :p

I agree, that list is very long. I think you don't need more than, say, 20 steamers in your set (and even that number is quite high actually). You can certainly group similar engines into the same ID, extensively using multiple liveries. It's what we did in the FRSet, for instance.

How about narrow gauge stuff?
