I think "Fake" works better...
They are synonymous, so it comes down to individual preference. I mean, I myself have used "Fake" for Fake Subways. I do find that "Pseudo-tracks" sounds good, however, while "Pseudo-subways" does not.

Sorry to dig this up, but I felt it was the most appropriate place to ask this. Unless it's not, in which case I regret my actions entirely.

Working through a DBXL 0.82 game for my Let's Play on my YouTube channel and I've suddenly run into an issue in about 1986 in which the local passenger car has vanished from the buy menu. The local mail coach, long distance passenger coach and mail van still exist, as do all relevant freight wagons.

Just curious if anyone has any ideas why this might have happened? I'm not using any other train sets in the game, I'm a purist. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps an issue with vehicles expiring? Check if vehicles expire is on, and if it is not, turn it on, then open console, and type 'resetengines' and that should bring any lost ones back.

I'd suggest if this isn't the case, there is an issuie (or feature?) with the GRF.

I definately allow vehicles to expire, otherwise the buy menu would be chock-a-block with outdated steam trains.

It's possibly an issue with the GRF, as it's definitely not a feature - the local coach still has two more iterations to go through, the mint/white scheme from 1986-1996 and then the red/white scheme from 1996 onwards.

Ah, we differ there then. I always keep my expirys off so i can always use older stock on some routes that don't need better.

In that case, it's probably a GRF issue then. I don't know enough about GRFs to say anything else I'm afraid. Nice to see you posting though!

I hope this isn't an issue like with NARS 2.03 where the stock cars where missing a generation or where missing all together.

Hi Trent, didn't see you here for a while! Just from your magnificent flickr entries I'm aware that you're still around and active in railroading. :D

As for the DBXL problem, this one sounds a bit weird since that local car definitely went through that mint/white and traffic red scheme in the past. OTOH, the set is quite old (~15 years) and it might be that there are problems with newer versions of OTTD ( or something else with your setup). In fact, coding the set in 2005 needed some rather peculiar solutions which might not be fully supported in today's versions.

And seriously, meanwhile 0.82 is *really* outdated. There is a successor version (0.9) in the works, but delayed since years, mainly because distraction from my side and third parties' growing demand for the newest DB stock to include. Nevertheless; there's still hope to provide a release "soon", i.e. that set is not abandoned. :p

In the meantime, there's ongoing work on the NewStations and MariCo sets.

Hopefully all is well on your side (except from TT problems).

regards
Michael

i remember an issue where some freight wagons were disappearing if expiring vehicles are enabled, but wagon speed limits are disabled (which prevents the replacement generation from coming up) but i don't see how that would apply to the local coach

maybe post the savegame, to see which weird combination of settings might be causing this?

G'day Michael, it's good to hear from you again too! Thankyou for the kind words, you're quite correct in that real life railroading (both as a hobby and career) has taken up a lot of time in recent years.

Regarding my issue with the local coach vanishing, in a peculiar twist of fate... it's back. Or rather, it hasn't vanished this time around.

I reverted to an earlier save in the hopes of buying up a fleet of the darn things before they vanished for use on local/commuter trains, and after playing through to 1986 I found that it had this time remained in the buy menu. I've changed no settings within OpenTTD or any GRF parameters, so I'm unsure what caused the issue to begin with, but I'm pleased that the problem has self-rectified!

I am enjoying the progress on NewStations and MariCo for sure, and eagerly await the long anticipated version 0.9. The DBXL set has always been and likely will always be my favourite new train set to use in any version of TTD.

Hopefully all is well with yourself and your family too Michael.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback and I'm sorry I can't pinpoint what caused the problem (or even how to fix it aside from reverting to an earlier save and hoping for the best).

Next version of NewStations (v0.7) will provide "pseudo tracks", i.e. fake tracks to fill that weird open space between real tracks in stations (and also allow for good looking "edge" and "island" stations).

ATM, this only works in connection with DBRails, since using pseudo tracks needs a small number of special track sprites (those switches / turnouts, seen in the screenshot).

To support other track sets, special track sprites for these sets would have to be included in NewStations. I've already discussed that with Snail for his French NG track set, but I'd also like to support other track sets. In case any track set author would be interested, just drop me a line.

regards
Michael

Well if someone can do something for NuTracks that should be compatible with my North American Track Set as well. I like to use New Stations for early games even in North America to get that early built up station look (so that cities dont have to have bland gravel or wood platforms until modern day)

Well, that's blown me away for today. Exceptional work, and an exceptional scene created with the new assets. Love all of the eye-candy decoration combinations that are possible.

Dunno if this is off-topic or not, but in the background those new DBset (0.9?) passenger coaches are longer then their currently released version, aren't they?

I sent you a PM about including my early railtypes from the Recycled Tracktype Set. Thanks for your hard work!

Sorry for late reply.

Yes, they are. In 0.9, UIC standard coaches (~27 meters) are shown with a length of 48 px. See

(those at bottom of train list)

If I can suggest a quick change which would be nice is to be able to modify the cost of the signals in your DBsetXL seeing as $780 for a single signal is a lot

Hi everyone. A new guy here.

So, im using the new station grf but there are pink pixels in a lot of the buildings like some texture is missing. Maybe i need to download something before trying it? Or maybe need to update my game? But i just downloaded the game less than a month ago, surely it should be okay, no?
