There is no extension file for PBI. Thus, PBI isn´t explicitly supported, although there might be some possibility to get it working, see Auge´s post. I´ve heared also from other people that they figured out how to use PBI as well.

Hmm, it is not working for me unfortunately. :( Do you also use version 1.5 of PBI and 0.82 of DBSetXL?
Yes, I use these versions of the GRFs. Attached is a savegame with only the three GRFs (PBI 1.5, DB-Set-XL 0.82, DB-Set ECS extension for 0.82). Savegame is created with OpenTTD 1.3.2, started 01.01.1940 and paused at startdate. It works for me.

@Auge

To start, I previously used a slightly patched version of OpenTTD 1.3.2 (chunnel patch and signals on tunnels/bridges patch), to be sure this has no effect I also tested it on the non patched version of OpenTTD 1.3.2. Further I disabled all GRF's except ofcourse PBI 1.5, DBSetXL 0.82 and the DBSet ECS extension (load in this order from above to below). In both versions of OpenTTD, when I create a new game and look in the GRF-menu, the DBSet ECS extension is still disabled. Further, when I open the savegame you provided, I get a message "Compatible GRF(s) loaded for missing files" and also in this case the DBSet ECS extension is disabled.

So if I understand it correctly we seem to use one or more different GRF-versions (given the warning of OpenTTD), and I suspect the ECS extension to be different.

Edit (1):
The ECS extension I use has this MD5-checksum: AE741625570BD08CA058BD4D3A7ED636, the ECS extension 'attached' to your savegame is 66ADF9AC90D97C59ED783FEC7E9706F9. So maybe your version is slightly tweaked? :D

Edit (2):
Screenshot included (left an OpenTTD with the ECS extension as downloaded from MB's site, right an OpenTTD with the GRF's your savegame indicates to need) (the other two grf's needed share the same MD5 as with the grf's I have in my OpenTTD):

there existed different versions of the DBSetXL ECS extension, older versions might be more primitive and not check for the presence of ECS vectors.

Yes, that is the case. :) . I Googled a little bit, found an older version of the ECS extension (same md5 sum as the version of Auge), and now it is working fine. :D

Well, weird.

This is the latest "official" file.
Eddi wrote: [...] older versions might be more primitive and not check for the presence of ECS vectors.
Above version checks

- "newcargo" switch has to be set (TTDPatch)
- "newindustries" switch has to be set (TTDPatch)
- ECS vectors have to be there (since they might be used independently from each other, even w/o the ECS town vetor - this is a flaw IMO)
- DBXL 0.82 must be there and loaded before the ECS vectors
- DBXL ECS extension must be loaded after DBXL
- George´s old "ECSDVeh" may not be there
- DBXL FIRS extension may not be there

And that´s it.

IIRC, the only differences are that the newer file uses action14 and got that type "extesion" fixed.

Hello,

I have been playing TT on and off since it was first released (before it was deluxe let alone open) I have recently found the new grfs and they have revitalized the game for me.

I am having a little trouble with the DB Set V0.82(XL) 05.05.05 eith ECS extension 20.09.10

Everything has been working very well so far and I would firstly like to take the opportunity to thank Michael for all the hard work, Great job.

The issue is quite simple, it is now 2065 in my game and when I open the Available Trains list the only locomotive is the Transrapid 09. As there are no cargo carriages for the maglev lines I am unable to transport any cargo.
I checked the readme and it says that a range of other locomotives have no expire date:
BR612
DE-AC33C
BR140
BR150
BR112
BR401
BR101
BR403
BR182

These are all unavailable now. I am aware that I can only get maglevs at the maglev depot, I am having the issue at all depots (electrified and non-electrified) as well as the available trains menu.

Is their a bug, or am I missing something? What other information do you need to assist?

Thanks
Antag

PS I should add that I am playing with trains expire turned on as suggested in the readme, I have tried turning it off, but I think now that they have already expired it is too late to make them "unexpire".

Welcome to the forums.

First of all, the current release of the DBXL (0.82) is a bit old, that means it had been developed (and tested) for TTDPatch, so I don´t know how it actually behaves in OTTD for years > 2050.

But in fact, the engines you named should be still available in later years as they don´t have an expiration date set. Unfortunately, I won´t take a look into this issue, because I don´t like to dig around anymore in v0.82, because I´m already working for a couple of years on v0.9.

And yes, your only possibility to make engines available again in-game would be by using a "cheat", i.e. in TTDPatch build a sign and enter "cht: resetengines", and in OTTD open the console ("^" on my keyboard; or use the menu under "?") and enter "resetengines".

HTH

Thanks for the suggestion and quick reply. I will do a reset and see how it goes.

Great to hear a v0.9 is on its way, is their a scheduled release date per chance :p

Yeah something odd is up, in the year 2069 I am now not able to purchase the Trans-Rapid either, Oh well the reset works fine. So my game is not ruined :D

Thanks again

No, there´s no officially scheduled release date, don´t ask such questions. :p

However, there were lots of scheduled release dates from third parties, like 11.11.2011, or 12.12.2012 but those have all passed w/o seeing any release.

that's what i've been saying... :)

anyway, OpenTTD, since it allows playing very long past 2050, calculates the "end dates" differently than when DBSetXL was released.

In particular, OpenTTD searches through all currently loaded vehicle set, which one introduces its vehicles at the latest moment, adds some time to that, to get the vehicles fully developed (reliability lifetime) and freezes the vehicle development at that moment. if you combine several vehicle sets (road, train, aircraft, etc.), one vehicle set may introduce vehicles very late, then the other vehicles may expire even if there is no replacement for them anymore.

if that happens to you, you can enable "vehicles never expire" and then type "resetengines" into the console (this will bring back ALL vehicles, even very early ones, so your vehicle list may get cluttered). or in future games, if you know this beforehand, you can enable this settings before the last vehciles expire (to mimic earlier behaviour, do this around 2050), and then don't do "resetengines". you won't have as much clutter this way.

Interesting, never read about that in such detail. Is that documented somewhere (except the source)? Any hints for vehicle set developers, except setting very high expiration dates?

Hi Michael,

I've been using your Alpine Climate GRF, which really I like a lot. However, I find the varying snow line to be a bit -- although interesting -- visually disruptive.

Could you possibly make the V0.1 available?

Welcome, and thanks for your interest.

You want a version with a fixed snowline?

V0.1? Err, actual version is already v0.21?
