The -m switch works for me. For example, to convert from DOS to Windows:

grfcodec -d cargoset.grf
copy sprites\cargoset.nfo sprites\cargosetw.nfo
grfcodec -e -m 0 cargosetw.grf

or to convert from Windows to DOS:

grfcodec -d cargosetw.grf
copy sprites\cargosetw.nfo sprites\cargoset.nfo
grfcodec -e -m 1 cargoset.grf

Doesn't that work?

I think I got it now
whew the grf utilities need a front end.....
anyway heres the windows version of the player color version of Michael's Dm3 . Extract to /newgrf/ - and run the exe

So I guess I gotta take the edited Dm3 down....

My aim in editing the file was not to try to take anything away from Michael. Or in anyway to disrespect his fine work. I just like the trains to appear in the color that I choose when i started my game. Lurch & Jerk isnt swiss rail after all. Anyway I apoligize if I gave the wrong impression.

well I took the zips down but left the screen.. I didnt think he would have any problem with a modification of his graphics... After all isnt that what we are about here... I'm sure TTD has been modified in many ways that C.S. didn't intend. One thing I learned early on as a mIRC scripter is that if you make anything thats any good it will be ripped and modified and implemented by other scripters. /me shrugs Anyway like I said earlier, it wasnt like i was trying to take credit for Michael's graphics..which are great BTW.. I was just trying to offer a option for ppl that like for thier trains to appear in thier own colors

OK, I don't understand why he put it in that tone, is he under some stress perhaps ?
If he doesn't want anyone to make changes to his designs , then he must put that on his website

Hey guys, give him some slack! Look at all the work he has done for the cargo set and the arctic set, for both windows and DOS. I suspect he onyl plays with one of these, so we are lucky he made them for the other. He also doesn't have to share them with anyone, and so i think he has a right to be a little grumpy seeing as he did all that work and then other people change it.

I'm not getting angry, its just I wanted to point out how lucky we are and we should respect his designs if we want more. And i assume we do

I have to ask this... seriously where did that come from? mp3pro wasn't doing anything wrong, when Michael said he did want people messing around with his graphic, mp3 took down the zips. Also he took no credit for what he did.

with possiblity of Uploads // Top Downloads // Top Ratings // Newest ... etc
(with sections like: Trains,Buses,Planes,Ships, or/and Dos,Windows and more ...)

but I need a PHP server ... maybe you Owen ... have you got some free space ??

That sounds like a good idea for an extension to the Repository, actually. I'm planning some big changes to the Repository when I have time (may be some months yet), and I think this would be a good feature to implement.

No it doesn't... the new graphic will just act like the old one. But with trains people have changed the speeds to make it more realistic (aswell as buses, ships etc. )

What i was saying was that we are so lucky that he shares, i just thought that we should respect that. I wasn't attacking mp3pro, infact he seems to be a pretty decent and talented person from what I see (of course he could be a 200 year old tree for all i know. I know i am...)
