Grass conversion Arctic Climate

Post by mtwist »

Hello everybody,

i made a conversion of the arctic climate brown grass to temperate climate standard grass. Old style looked like badlands...

There is only a windows version. Could anybody create a grf for dos?

Please, when posting screenshots use either png(most recommended, brings good quality in quite small space) or jpg.

I converted the images to png for you.

To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

There are some more tiles to draw in the future (i.e. the gold mine). I took me only half an hour to copy the original grass tiles.

I didn't know that there is already a conversion. It's looking good.

Ok, there is a version 0.2. Now the transitions are also normal grass.

Looks nice, but just one thing, when it starts to get covered in snow, the whole tile seems to increase in brightness.
(This is not a consistant problem, since it only affects 2 views from what I see.)

Keep up the good work,

Members of this forum are really not easy to satisfy :D

So here is v0.3. I used transparent paste to copy only the snow onto the original tiles.

And the DOS version.

@mtwist: Either of

Code: Select all

grfcodec -em 1 <filename>
grfcodec -e -m 1 <filename>
will produce a DOS version from a Windows PCX. (BTW: that's "em one", not "em ell")

Another question.

I used action 07 to skip the file in non-arctic climates. But it's possible to activate the set in other climates. Although it doesn't really matter, i'd like to fix this small bug. Maybe I have to use action 09??

Edit:
Ok, the "problem" is fixed. Action 08 was before action 07.
