New water coastal tiles [v0.7 released]

Discuss, get help with, or post new graphics for TTDPatch and OpenTTD, using the NewGRF system, here. Graphics for plain TTD also acceptable here.

If you don't place a white pixel at every possible spot, but leave a few gaps then it won't look as bright.
That's the way you did id in the canals if I'm not mistaken,but in the canals you have of course not enough white in the waves for it to look as a coast.

what's the difference between grdtogrf and grfmerge (from grfcodec)?

grdtogrf makes a grf from the grd file.
This grf file you can place in the newgrf folder of ttdpatch and then ingame activate or deactivate the grf, and thus using your newwater or the old ttd water without leaving the game. :)

yes, and you can decode and encode the grf directly without converting.

Please use the command line switches for grfid and the tile when creating grfs via grdtogrf...
TTDPatch dev in retirement ... Search a grf, try Grf Crawler 0.9 - now with even faster details view and new features...

im not verry good at using comand line programs i cant even get the help up for grdtogrf.

put the grdtogrf and the newwater.grd in the same folder (your ttd
folder) then open your MS-DOS Phrompt (at the START menu) and write down:

Code: Select all

C:\WINDOWS>cd C:\MPS\TTWin95\                 <== or where is your ttd folder
C:\MPS\TTWin95> grdtogrf -1 newwater.grd
then newwater.grf will apear in you folder

In generally the author of the graphics will create the grf. With a proper GRFID and Description (see the commandline switches on how you set them)

This way it's possible to even enable and disable the created GRF ingame.

For once, read what other people write. Oskar said the author should provide the grf so the author should also add his personalised data to the grf-header. If you made a private copy of the grf you don't have to change that naturally.
Just that would not be nice if you offered your private copy for download without a proper ID and copyright notice in the grf-header.

BTW: grf-ID FFFFFFFF means it can't be switched off, correct?
