Hi

My newest small project is grfcrawler.

It's a database of grf files that is searchable:
http://grfcrawler.tt-forums.net

-edit-

Grfcrawler is a database that should provide informations of grf files available on different places,
it provides a description, author info, homepage link, filename, grfid.
It's not a hosting solution, it should help all TTDPatch users to find a grf file,
currently searching grf file isn't very funny, it's takes time that you don't can use for playing patching, drawing...

The database can be feed by all peoples, currently it's in very very alpha stage, it will not have an user interface, new entries will get approved by admin(s), everyone should be able to add files.

Thanks to Owen hosting it.

PS: It's easier to add now suggestion into the database layout then when the database is full... Under List all Grfs you can see an entry, detail informations can be found under "(more...)"

A logo would be nice aswell :D

We defenatly need this.

My suggestion as to what info is needed.
  • Author
  • grf name
  • short discription of the grf
  • picture of the grf
  • required TTDPatch version
  • required parameters if any
  • download file dos version if available
  • download file win version if available
  • for devellopers only : a list of used ID's
[edit] added the Author field [/edit]

A category system wasn't planed, hmm.

GRFID Entry can be found under details (more...),
I can provide a search for grfid, or a list later...

I already had the idea of making a repository website with all grf, scenarios, and savegames in them... I talked about it to GoneWacko, and he said that Owen had an idea like that some time ago..

I would definately encourage a repository site where all of these files will be accessable.

I would also add the following attributes:

1 type of game : ttdlx, ottd, ttdp etc.
2 appreciation, people from this forum can give the scen, grf, save a rating from 0-10 this makes it easy to find well appreciated things!

It's a search engine for grfs only, it's not for storing them neither is a big voting system planed, this has serveral reasons:

Adding new grfs should be as easy as possible so the database will get filled,
this results in a user-less system. A user-less system has the problem that votes can't be trusted...

PS: It's TTDPatch sepecific ...

IsnĀ“t that the idea of Dinges graphic site? Do we need another one?

by eis_os
No it's not, there are differences.

Grfcrawler is a searchengine, it doesn't provide any storage.

It's possible for everyone to add an entry, not necessary that the grf author itself will add it.

Dinges Site is designed as storage for the grf authors in categories,
has a voting system that grfcrawler won't provide.

Hope that makes the differenece clear...

Grfcrawler is a searchengine. Or should be, currently I am working on the add system, and a page to moderate the search engine.

PS: I don't think you will ever find the DBSet on Dinges site, while the chances are high that it will be added to grfcrawler...

The Repository (and Repository 2.0, if I ever get it done) covers saved games, scenarios, and all that.

Chop Chop, Owen!

Heck I'd help you if I wasn't a noob with C... (although my skills are rapidly improving :P)
I could help write the PHP parts if that means it would be done quicker, though :P

Add & Search online, the add feature has a flood protection of 1 minute. Means only 60 grfs can be added per hour.

The attached file might be of some use. It's a database of GRF files I started for the Repository's auto-GRF-detection feature. Not all the URLs are complete/correct/full, and some other data might be incorrect, but it had just about every GRF file I could find on my system as of August.
