OzTrans wrote: 17 Sep 2021 00:27 Have you defined cargo type FOOD in any of your GRFs ?
Yep :D I have industries in the towns that accept Fruit, Meat, Fish and some other food related cargoes and they produce FOOD. But I don't have any Industry accepting FOOD as thinking the towns need that to make them grow.

Strange I been playing this game from the day it was released on floppy disks and needed the DOS operation system. I never realized that Temperate maps not accept FOOD in towns.

So I will need to re-arrange my Industry set so some places accept FOOD. I did have Schools, Hospitals, Sports grounds and Residential Industries but removed them .. I guess I could add these again and they can accept the foods. (I have water tanks and water treatment plants so water cargoes can be use in all climates).

I'll try to work on that after the weekend. Give time for any others to have a say.

Cheers pal and thanks to you and other for the help.

All climates now accept and produce all cargos.

I added schools, sport fields, Housing Apartments, Motel, Fast Food and a hospital and these all accept FOOD.

It has 89 Industries so I might as well add one more to go on the coastal areas for ships to use.

Hope to upload it later in the week.

Any suggestions tell me now other wise later might be to late.

I added 4 Apartment Industries to the Industry set and they accept FOOD. This will allow those who like using Temperate to have somewhere to take the food.

They accept Parcels, Tourists and Food and produce Mail and Tourists.

So for now if like I can upload the update with the Apartment Housing .. or you can wait until I am able to update the program properly.

Looking at other Industries that can accept FOOD instead of producing is. Some I can think of is schools, hospitals and sporting fields. Any suggestions?

I been looking at a idea that 3iff is doing to his SPI Industry set.

I think heavy industries could be coded not to build near small towns.

Why do our brains keep giving us other ideas? I been changing my mind more times then I change my nickers.

Livestock .. I have 3 types .. cattle, sheep and pigs. Main reason is for my train set as I have Cattle wagons and sheep wagons (sheep wagons also take piggies).

When I did AuzInd6 many years ago .. I just labels the Industry what type of livestock it handled like in this image.

It was up to the player if not care what type of livestock it was .. or you can be a bit more realistic and accept what label says and use correct railway wagons and if take them to correct destination.
For instance: The livestock from the agriculture farm (PIGS) actually got sent to a Bacon Factory and not the Abattoirs,

What you think I re-introduce this idea? Poultry will stay as poultry.

See what you think before I do any more to the Industry set.

This will spare up to cargo slots .. if you have a suggestion on something I could replace these.

Thanks for reporting .. see if I can find which one.

EDIT: .. been running the game while busy with other things .. and got reports of The Fish Farm (On land) closing. I have nothing in the coding to control closures for that Industry .. so looks like it game controller.

I was hoping some one might have responded to that post and some other posts to help me decide what to add to the set. But no takers.

So I going to do what I was told back in 2015 when I first started to code .. make thing how I want and if others don't like it ..they don't use it.

Hi Garry ;)

I think there are two ways - do it your way because noone responses, or public your ideas and questions on Discord forum in DEVELOPMENT section. I stopped add posts about developing here because I missed feedbacks. So I do it my way and sometimes I add some pictures to Discord.

Maybe when you add pictures to your posts, it could help too ;)

I think this degree of detail is unnecessary, since meat processing plants are generally fairly diversified and I don't think there are many of them that exclusively butcher pigs.

So in my opinion, just having them all as "livestock" is precise enough for purposes of a logistics simulation.

Thanks for the reply. Reason I choose a separate place for pigs to go called a Bacon Factory as they do exists. 1 is in Warwick, Queensland, Australia. Imagine buying freshly made bacon not yet been frozen. I lived in Warwick for 10 years and I often brought my bacon from there.

I was also thinking have shearing shed as a separate Industry .. take the sheep there so they can be sheared and create Wool. Buy some farms have their own shearing sheds and some smaller farm would share.

So I went back to a old idea and just have all Livestock and each place put a reference if they handle Cattle, Sheep or Pigs and players can make their own decisions how they play.

It be a while before I do any more to the Industry set as just can't concentrate what I want to do.

one thing this project desperately needs is production increases from shipments. for example if you ship livestock to a place that produces meat, the meat production goes up. if you do not know how to do that, you can ask andrew, the developer of wasteland, he knows how to do it.

I thought they will do that after they have a regular shipment. It should be similar to the default industries in TTD as you provide a good service. I don't intend to make these complicated like other industry sets just nice and simple.

BANKS

Added Banks to the Industry set .. the commercial shops provide Valuables and this gets taken to the bank. Which has given me another idea .. add a cargo called Pay Rolls .. produced by the Banks and transported to larger Industries for employees wages/Salary?

Still no idea when it be ready for release. When I do test I feel there way too many Industries .. I have 87. To try make them look a bit better I reducing some in size. For Instance .. the Livestock Sale Yards was 6x6 .. it is now 2x3 tile size.

I could remove Creamery and maybe Bacon Factory. Also looking at a idea had many months ago .. join a few Industries. Have 2 Industries in one.

In Australia where I live used to be a coal mine across the road that closed in the 1970s. It had the mine and also a Brick Works and Sawmill. So this Coal mine has the brick work. Some Brick Works I seen in real have a clay pit near by. So I probably could do the same and add a Brick Work with the Clay Pits.

I looking at removing the fencing seating and grand stand around the sports ground so make it smaller and also give you the privilege to build your own fencing seating and grand stand from the AuzSportObjects.

Some industry set makers looked at adding Workers to be taken to the Industries .. I wondering something different. Get the Armoured cars to take wages and salaries .. ( pay rolls) to some of the large Industries to pay the workers.

Banks can accept valuables (VALU) from commercials and produce the Wages and Salaries (WAGE) .. maybe I should call it Pay Rolls.

It not worth testing and Industry sets that I uploaded before. The last one AuzFarmIndustry being almost completely changed due to errors I found in it and also getting better ideas.
it is just that my mind easily gets tired
I think I know how you feel .. back in 2004 I got hit right side of head with a iron bar. Now have dead and damage brain cells on that side .. find it hard to concentrate on things and often need to read things several times for it to register in my mind. One of the big reasons I swap back and forwards between projects as not able concentrate on same one for long.
