On railroad bridge must be signals or semapfors, I think this is right.

... I love the idea of it, it would make long mountain tunnels (realistic) very usefull

Partly the reason why I don't use tunnels or bridges that much
If he could do it , perhaps copy the signal just in front of the bridge/tunnel and use it as default on the entire bridge
