Shutting down stations

Post by Mamen »

I'm wondering if it would be possible to shut down a station. What I mean is that you can make a station unreachable for vehicle. This could be very usefull when you want to upgrade to a bigger airport, but the airport is allready so busy that it is not possible to destroy it without selecting all aircrafts and reroute them. The options should be to pause it (incoming flights would just circle around, but never land) and stop it totaly (all aircrafts would delete the station from its orders). This way it could be destroyed & upgraded.
This could also be usefull for other stations I guess, but especially for airports.

Isn't this an option in OTTD? I agree with you - I love the idea, but whether it is feasible is another matter.

No, it is not. It has been suggested approximately umpteen million times, but never implemented.
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

Which means, I assume, two things:

1. It has never been implemented, even though it has been suggested, so it obviously isn't possible.
2. Use the search function.

Although admittedly, I don't remember anyy topic like this in TTDPatch Suggestions since I've been on the board.

Sorry. I skipped two important words. "It has been suggested approximately umpteen million times for OpenTTD." I don't remember it ever being suggested for Patch before either.

I was answering the question "Isn't this an option in OpenTTD?"

My apologies. I assumed you were answering the statement "... whether it is feasible or not is another matter."

So is it a viable thing to add into the Patch then?

there is a patch available for OpenTTD that does this, so (I think) it's possible to do it in patch as well
