Is it possible to introduce a switch to stop TTDP generating new trees?
So that you can control where to put trees? After 75 years of TTDP the entire map looks like a forest :(

Not a bad idea. I like it.

Failing that we could always use Joni Mitchell's Big Yellow Taxi method.

HA HA HA! I love that!

Anyway, I don't have the forest problem- my maps tend to look like urban sprawl. Wonder how yours get that way?

Or maybe a patch that makes sure there is always a constant number of trees, so the more trees there are, the slower new ones grow.

3 months later.
Figured I'd bump this, instead of creating a new thread.

I still think this would be a good idea.

Maybe it is an idea to rebuild the forest in a woodmill in the normal and the cold climate. In the tropical climate there are already sawmills. with sawmills you get rid of those trees and you have timber for industry and money in pocket as well. But there also new industry grf's which will be conflicting with that. That's a major disadvantage. On the other hand I have seen many beautiful sawmills.

I know this is off topic, but slightly relevant: in towns, I end up with a proliferation of statues and fountains: how about a limit on these as well?

That can already be done with a grf. For the temperate climate, you can try "Suburban Renewal (UKRH)" from here, which amongst other things controls the ratio of fountains and parks to other buildings.
