Unable to find CD

Post by mu5ic1 »

I did everything that Wiki and the FAQ said but I still get the message...: Could not acces the Transport Tycoon deluxe CD $
wich is quite odd because i thought the patch was there to play it without a cd.....

I did check if the win2k switchs was on (def: on) and don't know what or why to do anything now.

I still would like to play it and hope someone of you could help me

thanx

First of all, please don't post any problem multiple times. This is usually frowned upon in online forums. Also, use the correct subforum.

Solving your problem: In your ttdpatch.cfg file, scroll down to the line "cd path" and enter the path to your TTD directory (the one containing the CD contents), eg. write cd path C:\games\ttd if that is where you copied the TTD files to from your CD rom.

EDIT: I suggest to the mods that this thread be moved to "Problems with TTDPatch", where it belongs.

Opening any text file can be done using any text editor. Under Windows, you may want to use Notepad or WordPad to start with.

ah, it works. Pretty stupid of me, but ok. I changed the line for cd path to where my files are (it said: no line), but it still says its unable to acces cd$.

What said "no line"? The text search of your text editor? BTW: It's "cdpath", not "cd path", as I wrongly wrote above. But if you're just a bit fly, you figured that out anyway. (Sorry, that was mean.) So where/in which line did you enter your path exactly?

I changed the line `cdpath' in wordpad. In (...) after it stood something like : no line . or sumthing like that. I put my line between those (...) things and removed: no line.

As you might figured out I dont know a lot of this =P

Oh, you mean (no command line switch). You know, you actually can copy/paste text from text files into this forum...

Well, you did the wrong thing. Here's what mine looks like (actually, that's a lie):

Code: Select all

// `cdpath' (no command line switch) sets the CD path.
cdpath C:\games\ttd\
Now proceed analogously.

BTW: The directory you're pointing to must contain the full CD contents, not just what was installed in case you ran the TTD installer.

The error message you get is the first in this list. You may want to do as instructed, i.e. report this message to (one of) the author(s) of TTDPatch.

What OS are you running, and more importantly, which version of TTDPatch?

You do realize that 2.5 beta 9 is as old as October 29, 2006, right? It's hopelessly outdated, and that might just be the cause of your problem. Use the latest nightly instead.
