Simutrans New 128.128 Graphs

Post by Raven »

Hajo: remember me?, well, i've realised i'm mainly a tycooner, but i play and like ttd and simutrans 50/50. From now on, i'll work on simutrans as well as on tycoon, as i like some things from both games hehe, why choose?. And as a graphic artist (wow, sounds too good, maybe a graphic developer sound more, hmm, whatever) i LOVE the bigger size of simu graphics.

I'll post my graphics here, since now i don't have much time and running around 2 forums is too much brainwork, at least until summer.

I find that there are a thousand different locos in simutrans, which drives me crazy since i don't ever know which to use, so it could be fine to define graph sets as in ttdpatch, well, i know it's possible to take in or out some graphic files, but it could be nice to create folders for Common, US, Japan, Spain, or whatever, and just choose before starting a new game, because after all, what are 5 minutes choosing a game you'll play for days???. I don't know a single thing about coding, and i feel the program is nice enough as it is, just some suggestion by a N00b :? .

Well, as i was saying, as soon as i finish the japan project for tycoon i'm starting a Renfe Set (spanish railways, just in case somebody didn't know). And i'll work paralel on both projects.

you seem to be working hard!, nice game.

This is a SKETCH from my first loco, a 252, is still without pantos (i had some panto template for tycoon, but still have to develop one for simu), and clearly NO SHADED AT ALL!!!!

Just to raise interest....

oh, just compare, below is a blue-white 252 in tycoon standard sprite size. Oh my, on simu i can even place a real 252 on the side!!!! marvelous

I'd wish the locos for simutrans were much better shaded, by the way, can i change the values for costs(running costs etc)in the simuconf.tab?I wanna put 128x128 set to normal 64x64 costs as 64x64 is hard as it is for me, and those costs that 128x128 got are horrible. Raven, can i request a set from you?I would want Finnish Trains and etc for simutrans ,would make playing for me much more familiar :D

heres atleast one train(i dont know if its a freight train, i only seen it hauling passenger carriages)

http://mercurio.iet.unipi.it/pix/fi/ele ... 1/pix.html
Then theres the pendolino(in vr white/red livery)
http://www.sci.fi/~rautatie/rstock/sm3.shtml
then theres a passenger train that im very familiar with(seen it in 2 liveries, that Brown/Yellow and the new Red/White Livery)
http://www.saunalahti.fi/~rautatie/koti ... /summ1998/ (only 1 train shown, and its only in second picture, no passenger cars are shown..)
some steam locomotives that supposedly had been run on steam era..

were do you find those photos of trains, if i want to see a 252, i actually have to go to the closest station!!!!. :?

i'll try to draw some of those finnish things, ok?, but just as mine, that is, shape and basic colours

oh purno, its just a sketch, and heh, i'll soon add the lights and the shadings, just as soon as i know how to code it for use in the game :D

one thing i miss, (not too much), is the random livery, because repainting a loco is sooo easy.

and purno, have you ever tried to draw at this scale, palette, is sooo pleasing, i'm still testing shading, so my locos still look pretty much plastic

I've got a very bad internet connection currently, so I can't write long answers :(I'll answer the questions as soon as I've got a better connection again (hopefully next monday).

The running costs are part of the PAK file data. To change them, you'd need to get the PNG images and DAT files that Tomas used to compile the PAK files. Tomas Kubes is the maintainer of the 128x128 pixel tile set. You can get in contact with him here:

http://www.simugraph.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=14

That's the offcial forum to discuss the 128x128 pixel tile set.

Tomas Kubes told me;
Plese tell the guys in the TT forum:
*If you find the Simutrans hard use freeplay (128x128 will be made less difficult in next version though.)
*Of courwse Simutrans paks are not compactible with Quake paks.
anyway, look for the Wiki, it'll be quite easy to look for some answers by yourself ;).

ONTOPIC AGAIN:

Some more drawings, which i'llñ post in here cause it's easier. Some rubbish bins, two Madrid rubbish trucks, and the Aka. Passenger Loco, also, one shaded view of the 333.

No. Volker created a new format. PAK is just a short of "PAcKage"; we named them that way because they package all data that is needed for an object in Simutrans.

haha, i hope you're not talking about the garbage depots, but the garbage trucks right?, thanks!, weell, there's a program called makeobj which is quite simple to use and allows to introduce yor 24 bit graphics into the game. if you're really interested look for the simutrans Wiki, but if you ask, i won't mind to explain the basics to you
