Maybe this sheds some light on the pros and cons of TTD and Simutrans.

I post this link here, because I hope it will save me the time to explain everything there and here again.

Back to topic: Why should I play Simutrans rather than TTD?
Briefly said: you don't have to. If you like Simutrans, that's fine. If not, I'll be unhappy, maybe, but that's all.

TTD is one of the best transport simulations ever. You can't expect that a hobby project should be better or even comparable to TTD. Simutrans is different at best. Maybe you like the differences. If not, don't hack at me, just stay with TTD. I'll not recreate another TTD, I'll not even try to do so.

Actually I think Simutrans is still much too similar to TTD.
