Could someone tell me how to start simutrans using pak128 (what to put in the command line)? For some reason I can't get onto the forum.simutrans.com website.

Normally, you get the pack128 itself (I usually do it via forum.simutrans.com), and extract it. A subdirectory pak128 will be created. When everything is extractracted, like the instructions in the announcements section on this forum tell, pak128 should be automatically started.

According to the Simutrans instructions, to force pak128, this is also possile (readme.txt):

6.) Use alternative PAK files

If you have an alternative PAK file set for Simutrans, such as the
winter scenario, you can use the following command line argument:

simutrans -objects winter_pak/

"winter_pak" is the directory where the PAK files are stored. Use the
name of your setup instead! The trailing slash is mandatory.

This means, you can also force pak 128, if for some reason it is not taken when starting, by using this CL:

simutrans -objects pak128/

The pak to start automatically is usually specified in the simuconf.tab, located in config subdir, i.e. :

# Default pak file path
pak_file_path = pak128/



You have of course to make sure that your instalation of pak128 is not damaged, and matches the simutrans version. There are certain incompatibilities, which can result in crash, in not matching Simutrans and pak128 are used...

Actually, it works also for me OK. It worked all along.

Maybe you have a firewall somewhere inbetween?

There is also a German Forum Version, where you can download code/graphics/paks.
