Error

Post by Alek »

I've got Celeron 2,26GHz and 256 megs of ram, winXP HE and simutrans runs as if I got 50MHz, I've tried 86.02 and 84.14. WTF ?????

EDIT: It does run at all, but he's displaing like 20 frames, and then falls back to sleep again, where did I go wrong ?

EDIT2: Oh, and did i mention that it eats 100mb of ram ?

I'm not sure if I can help with the rest, it's now 5 months that I'm away from Simutrans.

But the 100 mb can be quite normal, if you use big maps and/or the 128x128 pixel object set.

So no worries because of that, it's probably ok. Simutrans isn't as lean as TTD or OTTD.

You may try to start simutrans with the -refresh 2 option. This may accelerate it dramatically. Especially the memory optimized 86.xx will require with a 256x256 map only 25 MB even with the 128 set. However, the 1024x1024 will require 500~700 MB, and is very slow (just playable) one my 128 MB machine.

Try using the newest 86.02.2 with the above mentioned -refresh 2 option at start. Then go the the main dialog -> display. What does your simloop/FPS counter read? (Both should be white, not yellow or red.)
