Not all of someone's posts come up when searching

Post by Nawdic »

When I search my own posts via the "search user posts" on profile it doesn't appear to show all of my posts - I (currently) have 3742 posts, whereas only 3719 show up? So where have the remaining 23 posts disappeared to, out of curiosity?

Ta for now.

Would they not be ones that you have deleted or had removed for whatever reason?

I see 3743, so you must have 23 posts in the spam bin. :P

It looks like most of them were replies to actual spam saying "this is spam".

Is there any chance one could "see them"...

At least I don't think I was frequently replying to spam...

Yes, one can see them if one has POWERS.

As Owen stated, it's mainly replies to spam. There are some double posts too, where we simply deleted one of them. Nothing removed that looks to be of any value.

EDIT: Take a look at orudge's post count and how many posts can be found. That should differ too. He's a spammy one.

Just realised I've only lost 2 posts in the (nearly) 6 years that I've been here! One I asked to be removed, because it was stuff that I probably shouldn't have been saying (railway related), and the other was probably an accidental response to spam

(Owen is 23552 vs 21627.... do they have a secret Mod Forum.... oh wait! They do! )

EDIT: I'm half expecting this to be edited by a mod, with them denying all knowledge of the so called "Modtopia"

There is a Private Area, with some 9250 posts in it (an average of about 1.8 posts a day since the forums started), which is where discussion surrounding problematic posts and problematic users goes on. There's also a spam bin, where all posts of a spammy or inappropriate nature get moved. There are around 16,000 of those - around 3 a day.

I think with phpBB 3 we can exclude certain forums from the post count mechanism, but we never enabled that. Don't see that it does too much harm really!

Could we at least bribe you so we can have a peek to what is inside the super-secret mod area, per chance...?

It's really not very exciting. Some names hidden to protect the innocent/guilty, as appropriate. (Not every topic discussed results in a warning or ban of course!)

So, is there a way that I can check if I've had an official warning or not Owen? I may have forgotten since it happened

One could only think about who that topic is about with 5 pages...

You'll have had a PM informing you of this - I'm pleased to confirm that you've not had any warnings!

For the sake of fairness I think we need a subforum where users can gossip talk about moderators ... Image

Iwould argue this forum is the proper place for raising issues with Moderators or via PM with the Moderator or Owen.
