Would it be possible to get support for embedded H.264 .mp4 videos to replace the huge .gifs?

Do you mean a [video] BBCode tag, or the ability to upload .mp4 files? I've added .mp4 to the allowed extensions for attachments, so you should be able to upload those now. A [video] tag would be slightly more complicated, but not impossible.

edit: It isn't playable straight in the browser. That was the thing I was talking about.
