Attachment size

Post by bvoice360 »

The attachments function does not seem to be working properly at the moment (at least for me), as when I try to upload a save of (for example) ~13KB, it refuses to let me, saying 'file size limit of 10MB exceeded'. What?

Well, first of all I'd say what map size is that? Pretty small save  Can you try posting something else, or re-saving the game and posting it again?

It is a 4096 map, but I just haven't built much. It happens with every .sav file I try to attach, and only .sav files.

I've just quickly tested it with a blank (generated map then instantly saved it). Its 2048x2048, and about 4.8MB
File is attached to this post, assuming it doesn't give me the too large notice after pressing 'Post'

If any of your saves are genuinely that small, is it possible they are corrupted somehow? I can't imagine openttd saves being that small, unless it has some setting I'm not aware of that makes it use a different format for saves that smaller?

If I create a flat 4k x 4k map in scenario editor with nothing (no slopes, no trees, no towns), it is 29 kB.
If I create a random 4k x 4k map in scenario editor with nothing (no trees, no towns), is is 1.3 MB.

I think you are confusing kB and MB somewhere in the process, and you map is actually 13 MB.

Yours work, it seems to be just my saves that don't.

And no, in the file list, it says 13,800 KB not MB (Is that ~14MB? I mistook the , for a .) If so, I will have to switch back to 2k maps for compatibility's sake unless they raise the file limit to keep up with OTTD's evolution (didn't it used to be 2MB?)

13,800 kilobytes is indeed, 13.8 megabytes
1000 kilobytes is 1 megabyte

Then yes, I will have to downsize in future unless they increase the size cap to accommodate 4k maps.

I daresay I can increase the size limit, I'll look at it tomorrow.

I've increased the limit to 25MB. This of course doesn't mean you should post huge files just for the lols, but in cases where you need to attach larger files, you should now be able to do so.
