Are you looking for a developer?

Post by Ohad »

I'm not sure if I can join a project, but I'm looking for an interesting project to join,
and since I like public transport, and it's game, furthermore, I like programming and buliding
a game sound like a fascinating work.

("So what's the problem?")
The main problem is that I'm very busy, and I don't have too much free time.

The second problem is that I don't know C++ (or C).
(You probably asking yourself WTF?)

Ok... so here it is: I know C#...
Yeh, I know, it is a MS language and it stupid to use it.

But here are the possibilities:
  • I will learn C++, and help you, I want to learn c++,
but since the few time that I have, I'm not sure about it.
  • We use C# with the mono project which is Multi-platform,
    But:
    1. This game will be depending on the mono project.
    2. To run the game, the users should install the mono runtime.
    3. We should figure how to use C++ with C# who's run on mono project.
On the other hand, this will help the mono project, which is a thing that I want to do too.
Again this answer is very complicated.
  • You don't need more developers, and I wasting my time to write this post.
Anyway, I can help with other stuff beside programming, if you need.

Yours,
Ohad.

We do need developers. But I think we're pretty set on C++.
I too know more C# and C than C++, but C++ can be just as cross-platform if you use the right libraries, to my knowledge and I presume it is better for game programming or such and such.

Someone with C++ experience should fill some blanks in...

It is better than C# for games, but c# can use for other thing in the game.

As I said the mono project is cross-platform,
but then the game will need the mono run-time.

"C++ experience" is not me,
Even if I will learn C++, the "experience" is kind of a problem.

Anyway, as I said, if you need more "light" programming in C++,
I'm here, and I dont mean just to write some "if"s.

I think we're not switching to C# so you'll probably need to learn C++, but as Steve said, you need some experience with C++ before becomming a dev.
Don't panic - My YouTube channel - Follow me on twitter (@XeryusTC) - Play Tribes: Ascend - Tired of Dropbox? Try SpiderOak (use this link and we both get 1GB extra space)

Just hang around and see what happens.
I'm sure if you started learning C++ then by the time the project gets off the ground again you will be fluent.
