Website Management - Resources and Submission

Post by Steve »

What this thread is for
To ensure that the website style and coding is kept at a constant standard, pages and content that are being submitted to the website must be placed in this thread, so they can be added to the site by the webmaster. Pages or content that are being made for a specific objective should be posted in the relevant objective thread and the styling and implementation of such pages can be dealt with after the objective has been completed, without reposting them here.

Current Webmaster: Steve

Posting New Content
If you notice a page is lacking in content, you can submit new content here. If you are planning on replacing existing content and not just filling in a gap, you should post here to make sure it is fine to do so. Once you have your content complete, you should post it in this thread as a quote, making it clear which page it belongs on. Do not include any HTML code for the content, unless it is making a layout clear or showing a link. The style will be added by the webmaster. Below is an example of a good submission:

The forums are a place you can go to discuss Transport Empire and help to develop it. There are a variety of topics and tasks, meaning anyone can find something talk about. The Forums are currently hosted on TT-Forums, a Transport Tycoon Community. You can find the here:

Posting New Pages
When posting new pages, either from an objective or for other reasons, you should not try and link in the stylesheet yourself. To prevent a messy website caused by everyone coding their own pages individually, you should post your page in raw HTML and let the webmaster add the relevant styles. You should attach your pages to your post and include any relevant details in your post (such as specific styles if they are important).
To help build your pages, it may be worth looking at the code for the website. The latest version of the code is attached to this post. It is not necessary to build your pages to fit these pages exactly though.

Posting New Graphics
As you may notice on the website there are images in the top left of the page. If you think you have a new image that should be added to the selection, you can post it here. Please do not attempt to add your own fade to the picture.

People should start posting content for the site. Anything that is obviously not meant to be there, needs replacing.

I've updated the website. The updates include:
  • - adding new coding style
    - added more logs and minutes
    - updated the news section
I would appreciate it if someone could come up with a better story to introduce Transport Empire. The current story on the "home"page is rather short.

Double post and one with a dangerous load. I've been analysing the suggestions lately for the creation of 1 Design Document. Almost everything that's been discussed started here on this forum or got finalised on this forum or IRC. The Wiki has always been a discussion-only platform of things that were initiated here. It also never reached the same popularity of the forum or IRC and the visits/comments on Wiki discussions were often scarce. After we lost the original Wiki on the SourceForge account a new Wiki was made that became ever so more unknown, unvisited and what more. All this together makes me wonder if we shouldn't just ditch the current Wiki and re-install it once we have a running game. A Wiki to me is a good resource and greatly facilitates making manuals available online. But that's it in my opinion.
