Anyone else here been "On Call 24/7"? Not necessarily diplomatic security, just in general...

I'm kinda on-call 24/7 for issues with the webserver I help run. Of course normally I'm awake until 3-5AM, and awake again after a few hours, still I've been woken up in the middle of the night with an emergency from a client.

The only thing I ever did between 2am and 6am was snoop around offices looking for unsecured classified information.

I think we have members of this forum who works in emergency/incident handling (in the traditional sense), almost always needs to be ready on-call.

What, in your opinion (which I value) would be considered "non-traditional sense"?

Interestingly enough, so did I. I worked for hotels as the night manager. Always fun digging up something... ;)

I do a week on call every fifth week at present. That's ~4am Monday through to 12pm Saturday. I was on call over the last week.
EDIT TO ADD: I'm in IT but, as far as I know, on-call in the IT industry is normal.

If you don't value it it's fine, only my 2p.

Non-traditional could involve electronic stuff, grid stuff, technical stuff, technological stuff.

Traditional are medical and physical security stuff.
