Unpopular Opinions
Let us have a new thread. This is the perfect place for you to share an unpopular opinion, an opinion that does not go down well with others. Let's try to avoid the politics though (hurr durr Nazis), thanks.
I dislike the sitcom Seinfeld. What are you going to do, shoot me?

Re: Unpopular Opinions
I dislike Game of Thrones.
Re: Unpopular Opinions
I never liked it when it originally aired. Of course, that was a show for middle-aged people and I was just a teenager and young adult. Now that I'm middle-aged, I understand it, I get it. I might watch it if I'm flipping channels and see it on, but I don't seek it out. So, no harm, no foul there. It's not for everybody.Chrill wrote:I dislike the sitcom Seinfeld. Totally acceptable.Redirect Left wrote:I dislike Game of Thrones.
I watched the first few episodes when it first aired, and I never got into it. I felt like it was mostly an excuse to show tits on TV. If I want softcore pornography, I'll go somewhere else

Avatar*. Nice to look at, nice soundtrack (IMO together with Apollo 13 and Star Trek: Wrath of Khan the best work of J. Horner), but the story is plothole-filled mess that falls apart when you think about the implications for a while. The only major value is as tech demonstrator for IMAX.
Starship troopers (film) - has very little in common with the book. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn't seen the movie, hasn't read the book, can't get past the superficial resemblance, or is just plain bullshitting.
* - the Cameron film. There is no war in Ba Sing Se, there is no live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Re: Unpopular Opinions
All those Marvel and DC movies - rubbish.
Ghibli - fine, but also not that great.
Simpsons, American Dad ... or whatever it's called ... and so on: boring. Very meh.
I accept South Park though ^^

Re: Unpopular Opinions
pyoro: Regarding the Simpsons, that isn't exactly unpopular idea. The later seasons are widely considered to be bad on all animation / cartoon forums and imageboards I visit, the only thing that is really disputed is where/when did that decline in quality happen (Season 9? Season 12?)

Of course I'm not the only one with that opinion. I don't think that's the point.

Friends wasn't so uninteresting and boring, no where near good enough to have its TV history landmark it seems to have..

Friends, Big Bang Theory, Will & Grace - anything US with canned laughter. I hate all of them.Redirect Left wrote:Friends wasn't so uninteresting and boring, no where near good enough to have its TV history landmark it seems to have..

Re: Unpopular Opinions
Some shows do have "canned laughter", but a lot of these shows (Friends and BBT certainly) were/are filmed in front of a live studio audience. The same with most UK sitcoms. The laughter is real!SwissFan91 wrote:Friends, Big Bang Theory, Will & Grace - anything US with canned laughter. I hate all of them.
I attended the recording of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson some 11 years ago now, in Los Angeles, thanks to a friend of mine, and it was a very interesting experience. They did have "warm up" guys who would basically keep you laughing during the boring bits between filming the actual show. So then when the actual filming was going on, I felt myself laughing perhaps louder and more often than I normally would - it was weird. Laughter is infectious, I guess!

Re: Unpopular Opinions
They have the same at Robot Wars filming too, kept us all amused whilst filming was canned for 2 hours due to a LiPo battery fire making the arena unusable until cleared.orudge wrote:SwissFan91 wrote:They did have "warm up" guys who would basically keep you laughing during the boring bits between filming the actual show. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I agree!Pilot wrote:Pacer's are good-looking trains.
My genuine unpopular opinion - I like the Pacers and shall miss them, they're part of British engineering history, yes, not the best part of it, but it'll be a shame to see them go.
