They didn't do surrounding shots during totality ! Apalling !

Anyway, @Kamnet, don't you live "close" to the path ?

Not really, I live on the eastern side of Kentucky, about a 4 hour drive from Hopkinsville.

I presume you couldn't be bothered by the drive then ?

1. I had other obligations for the day.
2. I had no desire to be part of the sea of humanity descending on one place that was ill suited. Visitors were warned to bring their own food and water, expect significant traffic tie-ups and no wireless service.
3. I've already witnessed one eclipse in my lifetime. As far as natural events go, eh.
4. I got a good enough viewing at home. I was satisfied.

NASA doing a live stream of the eclipse was amusing, purely because it fed fire to the flat earthers and let them use it in their conspiracy theories.

Well, depends on where you are, it might be completely empty.

I tell you - it's like addiction. Even this very determined man turns out not doing what he said in the end, and that's a very smart choice. But I'm sure as hell he's going to chase the next one or something. I even envy all of you and noticing there are no other convenient total solar eclipse to pass near where I live until I'm probably dead, other than last year (2016) and 2023, I think I'll have to attend the 2023 one.

The 2024 North American eclipse will pass over Indianapolis, where I come from and my grandfather owns a farm. If it's still in the family at that time, we'll probably throw a big eclipse party on the farm.
