I pretty much hope it will be a waste of time and people (esp. the EU officials) learn to compromise more.

Otherwise, if Brexit becomes an official fact (i.e. UK officially signed out of EU), beware of a Scottish / Irish exit, and then the old buddies having disputes over the North Sea, and one thing leads to another...

With China messing with other countries around the "South (China) Sea", the worst case scenario can be a two-theatre WW3.


For now, I agree with Drury that we just go on with whatever we are dealing with now.

Two impulsive thoughts:
1. Aging population IS a problem.
2. After the older generation die, rejoin. But maybe people will get used to it then.

Is it true that Scotland voted Bremain by a rather wide margin? It's hard to find reliable sources here, I don't know quite know where to search for it.

That would only make the Scotland-out-of-UK voice grow louder too.

Okay, so as someone who wanted to remain, and someone who is of a younger age group, that image that Pyoro has posted has really annoyed me. It shows just how much the older generation have messed it up for the younger generation like myself.

Anyway, this is just something that I will have to live with, and I appreciate the opinions of everyone else who voted in this referendum.

Sadly, it may be true.

My grand parents, one of which in their early 90s, both voted leave whilst I was firmly passionately about remaining for my future, and everyone.
So my vote has pretty much been cancelled out by my own family. To say I'm disappointing and upset with that prospect is an understatement

Does that mean : Most of the Elders live in the countryside ??

For example, city areas (I assume most of the tiny counties are big cities) mostly voted for remain while countryside (most of the massive counties) mostly voted for leave. Distinctions are Scotland, which is a uh-oh.

Turnout seems to have varied - for example, Manchester and Glasgow have somewhere under 30% while areas around them have more than 60%, London seems to be high.

Not necessarily, Greater Manchester for example, The entirety mostly voted to leave, except for the Manchester, Trafford and Stockport. Or Birmingham, where the whole area voted to leave. I think this map shows it much more accurately.

Hmm, yeah. Not quite sure of the geography, also the tiny counties, of course, looks tiny.

But IMHO these areas aren't quite as "city" as would London. So I suppose there's some divergence here between the cities and countrysides on their views on EU.

Which is weird looking back at the older voting ! I can understand Gibraltar, I can't quite explain the rest of UK apart from age things (but then it's a slice of bread), but Scotland ?

I don't think the age thing is all that relevant for regions; it's true that cities usually have a lower age-average (universities are there, and rents are too high for families and retired ppl), but it shouldn't be enough to tip the balance alone. Other factors are probably bigger when it comes to regional differences, age is more of an overall effect.

I think it's kinda amusing now pretending that the EU is/was not the UK, too. They've been members of the various treaties since 1973; whatever is wrong with the EU nowadays lies as much on UK shoulders as it does on anyone else's.
