Re: The Thread Of Randomness
Many of the "old" people are still around, but orudge is correct in that real life has made an impact on our free time. The game is still in active development and there are some neat things coming through, though
My Scenarios:

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
I've been here since 2005, and honestly I haven't had anything to take more time away from me. I still play openTTD daily, have it loaded on the PC 24/7 and keep alt-tabbing to it throughout the day
I do try my best though, although probably trying in the wrong order

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
That is what I suspect is happening - many people is leaving as they are for many reasons with less time for OpenTTD. Some new people are appearing, but it is not enough to balance it.orudge wrote:I think things probably are quieter, but I guess part of the problem is that a lot of us (well, maybe this is just my perception) were students or at school, etc, during the "heyday" of OpenTTD - most of us now have jobs and/or spouses and/or kids, and much less time to spend playing TT. I've certainly not been able to play TTD in years. I hope sometime to find the time to though!
But still, 12 years since the first release and 21 since TTD release it is very impressive that there is still decent activity!

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
I think that the game looks a bit dated without all the bells ans whistles you can add to make is better (and what actually makes the game so great). Beside the graphics that make the people water their mouths have remained a pipe dream.Kogut wrote:Some new people are appearing, but it is not enough to balance it.
Historical closeness of the artistic people around the game has probably also contributed to the lack of new generation appearing. To see it (in some cases in a really extreme form) feels in retrospect really weird, but of course the historical roots of this community come here from different origins.

Not doing bad for a game that's older than me.
And as everyone knows, I'm a very old and wise man.

There are a few pictures in the TT-F meet thread, not that many though. Not sure if people uploaded elsewhere like Facebook or Flickr, but not many found there way onto that thread.Chrill wrote:Speaking of that. Did anyone get some photos or such to post? Re: The Thread Of Randomness
One for any disney fans, Angela Lansbury took to the stage to help celebrate 25 years since Beauty and the Beasts release. She originally portrayed Mrs Potts and in that character she sings the main theme for the film, simply named 'Beauty and the Beast'.
Angela is now 90 years old, but she can still nail that song, albeit her age does show in some ways. She still absolutely nails it!

and for comparison, here is the original rendition she did for the actual movie; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5i-JtII7ng
Yes, i'm 27, a man and i still love Disney films, sue me

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
Only in US, here in EU people have kept the last bits of common sense. Well perhaps not in UK... Damit, I miss the good old days.Redirect Left wrote:sue me
Edit: Disclaimer: actually many lawsuits that are presented as demonstration of absurdness of US legal system have pretty much made a lot of sense. So go figure.

50/60 FPS Youtube videos make me uneasy, and sick... yeah they're closer to real life for some videos but it makes me sick to see things moving so fast and crisp.

Re: The Thread Of Randomness
As I'm someone who isn't interested in the Bake-off, but has seen what is going on, explain what it means to a fan of the show? I mean there was a massive uproar on it moving to C4 even before it was announced that the Hosts and that Mary Berry would be leaving.Redirect Left wrote:One for the UK folks.
