crash shortly after starting the game

Post by yimano »

Ok guys I have dos version of ttd without patching I can get it to fire up in xp for a period of 30 seconds to 1m 30s or so, but then it shutsdown, if i go to command prompt and start it it will do same thing but instead of just shutting down it either freezes and the screen just garbels or it gives me the memory failure allocation error message, I have sound off and music off.

If anyone can help with this problem or know of any other way to get me into playing this game please post I used to play this game for hours and would love to be able to play it again as it is an ultimate classic, thanks ahead of time for your help :D

It's a classic, I agree.
But why don't you download the Windows version. Patch it. And it works great!
There's really no difference in TTDDos and TTDWin...

But I have no idea what else you could do.

As TiMMah!!! and spaceman spiff said, you need to get the Windows version of TTD. You then need the Windows version of TTDPatch, and then run ttdpatchw.exe -2 - see the TTDPatch manual and older threads in this forum for full installation details and so on.
