Post by spaceman-spiff »

For some reason, my link to the new ships does not work anymore
http://www.patagonia.de.vu/ttd/newships.html
here i could admire the new ships
could it be that implementation of them is very close ?
Josef talked about it

Hmmm, I'll check alt.games.microprose.transport-tyc about that. The ships will be available once Josef has got all the code written and working for adding new vehicles.

Checking on the newsgroup it appears they are stuck at the names for the ships (in differenty languages).
How come Elvis did not appear in "Return of the King"

yes i saw it too, but this means work is near to completion i think
names can't be an issue to put them in the game, after alll you can rename your ships if you don't like it
we want those ships

Methinks they are close. From Josephs site info abour 1.8.2 Alpha 14
"In 1.8.2 alpha 14 (September 27, 2002):
entered translations for the new ship names
ship loading/unloading now 10 units at a time for better display of loading state
TTDPatch waits for a key after displaying any error messages to keep window open
fixed screenshots under Windows, *again* (probably still won't work under nt/2k/xp)
"invalid segment length" error now suggests deleting ttdload.ovl
Cht: ReloadEngines to load updated engine data (year of introduction and climates set by "newships" or TTDAlter)
fix ships temporarily displaying loading graphics when arriving at a buoy
Marcin: dates before 1950 should no longer crash the game
Marcin: wooden bridges are available even in very early years "

If anyone figures what to do with a liner full of people let me know? Maybe a Carribean Scenario?

First of all, delete TTDLOADW.OVL if it exists. Then open ttdpatch.cfg (or create a ttdpatch.cfg if it doesn't exist) and add newships on to the file. Then start ttdpatchw.exe.

i always delete TTDLOADW.OVL
my ttdpatch.cfg: forcerebuildovl on

the new ships switch is on !
my ttdpatch.cfg: newships on

i start ttdpatchw.exe with -W ttdpatch.cfg so it adds new switches

what could it be ?

No, you won't be able to, as the new ship parameters are stored in the new GRF file. TTDAlter doesn't currently support modifying them - in the future, I may create a plug-in or something which lets you do this.
