Sound Difficulty

I downloaded the windows version of TTD and the 1.8 patch. Everything seems to be working ok other than I can't get the background music to turn on. Any suggestions? I'm using WinXP

Run the TTConfig.exe file in your TTD directory. Click the 'Sound' tab, and select 'General MIDI' from the drop-down list. Then click Apply, and Cancel. Run TTD and you should have music.
