TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
The forums have been upgraded to phpBB version 3.1, which despite the minor increase in version number, is a fairly major release. New features in this version include a notification system, allowing you to easily keep an eye on subscribed topics, private messages, and so on. You can also choose to use Gravatar for your avatar, if you want to maintain a single avatar over your whole Internet presence without updating avatars manually on each site. The proSilver theme is also "responsive", meaning it should work much better on mobile devices. (The default TT theme and subSilver themes are not responsive, unfortunately, but if anybody would like to update the TT theme based upon the proSilver theme, do let me know!). You can also specify your timezone in the User Control Panel on a city basis, so you won't need to enable or disable DST twice a year.
There have also been many improvements behind-the-scenes to make the forums faster and more reliable, and easier to extend.
Unfortunately, a few of the phpBB translations we offered for phpBB 3.0 are not currently available in phpBB 3.1, so users may find they're back to using English.
If anybody spots any problems, please let me know. The TT theme has been reimplemented from the subSilver theme from scratch, so it's possible that I may have missed certain bits (typically, this may be a case of seeing white text in places where it should be black).

I don't like the changes to the last post column, I find it too busy for my liking.

I like it.

Any chance to get this fixed?

Oh hey, it notifies you when somebody quotes you, neat.wallyweb wrote:"If I see a white text, I want to paint it black, orudge wrote: this may be a case of seeing white text in places where it should be black).

What browser are you using? Somebody else reported a spacing issue - however, in theory nothing major should have changed between the 3.0 theme and the 3.1 theme. It seems to look fine in Firefox 40.alluke wrote:Any chance to get this fixed?
Only on a whole-board basis, it seems. I've turned it off just now, but now it seems to look oddly plain. We might have to have a vote on it.Nordic Dragon wrote:Myself too. Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
It took a bit of getting used to the new last post title but I like it as I have been using a non phpBB forum with that feature and it is useful. I have not had any spacing issues in the left column on Chrome 44 for desktop.

I much prefer the way it now looks. Far cleaner.orudge wrote:Only on a whole-board basis, it seems. I've turned it off just now, but now it seems to look oddly plain. Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
There also appears to be a bug with the "Last Active" section on profiles...

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Well-spotted - that is now fixed.
Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Have the "Go to page" links shrunk? They were always fiddly to click, but it seems worse now.
I don't see why those aren't much larger anyway - compared to all the empty space at the bottom, doubling the size would still be insignificant.

Temporary Permanent signature filling text. Content coming soon delayed indefinitely! Oh, and I have had a screenshot thread.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Hm, it seems to look the same to me, I don't think it's changed. I think maybe phpBB shows more page numbers than it did before, though.
Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Didn't there used to be commas between them? Made them feel bigger even though they weren't.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Hm, quite possibly, I can't quite remember! I'm sure we'll get used to it. Remember, the forums once looked like this in the phpBB 2.0 days (with commas in the page numbers apparently).
And, of course, go back to the really early days (the forums were around 5 days old at this point) and there was no TT theme at all.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Found another bug for you Owen, two "Location" tabs.
Edit: Also 2 Skype fields in the UCP.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
Hm, it looks like phpBB 3.1 includes a custom Skype field, but we already added a Skype field into 3.0. I've temporarily disabled the new one and will try to merge the two in the database.
I'll check the location issue - looks like a problem with the TT theme.
Thanks for reporting these, it's appreciated.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
It looks like WLM and AIM (and possibly any custom profile fields) are also appearing in white on the TT Theme profile page. This post is basically just a reminder for myself to fix this later.
Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
No issues to report, I just don't like the thread name being listed first in the website header rather than the old "Transport Tycoon Forums :: News" I now get "News - Transport Tycoon Forums". When I have loads of tabs open this just gets shrunk to "News".
Very much a first world problem, I know.

Re: TT-Forums upgraded to phpBB 3.1
General note, did the update break some anti spam bot registration/posting stuff? Certainly seems to be more of them about lately.
