*** Forum fundraiser 2014 [£500.00 / £500.00 raised] ***
As regular visitors will know, these forums are run on a voluntary basis, funded partially by advertising, but mostly by your very generous donations. While donations are accepted all year, I like to post this topic once a year to try to get enough donations to run the site for the upcoming year.
We saw a significant increase in traffic in 2013 compared with 2012. We had some 16 million extra hits last year, with over 3TB of bandwidth used. As you know, we have had a few issues with server performance as a result, so I hope to investigate options this year for improving things - possibly moving server or adding extra hardware.
As with last year, we’re aiming for £500 of donations this year (US $821.05, or €603.80), to help cover as much of the expense of running the forums as possible. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and has been appreciated for many years - without your help, the forums may not exist today. If you could spare even just a few pounds, dollars, euros, or whatever currency you use, to help the forums, it'd be appreciated.
Instead of a single large donation, you may wish to consider sending a regular monthly donation, if this is something you can afford. Hosting for the forums is paid monthly, so this can help to spread things around a bit. If you'd be interested in donating like this, please let me know.
You can find the donation page here. Donations can be taken by PayPal and direct bank transfer. Within the UK, I can also accept cheques and postal orders. If there is another way you would like to donate, let me know and we can figure something out. Your donations are very much appreciated.
(GBP) (USD) (EUR)
If you don't want to, or can't, send a monetary donation, you can use our Amazon affiliate links when you shop at Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. Again, the donations page here explains that.
Please note that donations to OpenTTD are NOT donations for the forums; the forums and OpenTTD are unconnected (although I process donations for both, though they are held and recorded separately). To donate to the forums, please use this link, not the link on the OpenTTD web site.
Thank you all for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions. (This announcement will be removed in the future.)

Of course, money is being sent your way. With the GBP much weaker than it used to be in comparison to the Swedish krona, I can send more for less
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: *** Forum fundraiser 2014 [£11.51 / £500.00 raised] ***
Ah - Owen could you PM or Facebook me the account number and sort code, and I'll send over a contribution. It would boost it a little by not getting bogged down in PayPal fees.
Any opinions expressed are purely mine and not that of any employer, past or present.

Is it the same bank details as my hosting payment went to Owen?

Thanks, Jamie! That, plus another donation received yesterday, puts the total at £162.93 - nearly a third of the way there now.

As usual, once I get the student loan in I'll send some money the forums way.

It is always a pleasure to donate. As I did last year, I hereby dedicate a portion of the spare change jar to the cause, which this time around totals £125.00, a shade higher than last year. And after a brief hiatus, my ability to make the monthly donation has been restored.
May you continue to enjoy the labor of love we call virtual transport. Cheers to all!

That's extremely generous of you, thank you! With that donation, and a handful of others this weekend, the total now stands at £301.77 - 60% of the way there!
To all of you who have donated to the forums, thank you once again for helping to keep them running for another year.

£20.88 on the way (I intended to do £20.12, but mis-typed the decimals )

Thank you! That puts us just under £350 out of £500, or 70% of the way there!

I thought £329.88 + £20.88 = £350.76orudge wrote:Thank you! That puts us just under £350 out of £500, or 70% of the way there!

You're forgetting about PayPal fees, alas. £20.88 becomes £19.66 after PayPal fees.

Thanks to a generous donation of £150.46 from OpenTTD, I'm pleased to announce that we have reached our fundraiser target for this year! Thanks very much to everybody who donated - it is, as always, really appreciated, and will help keep the forums going for another year at least.
Re: *** Forum fundraiser 2014 [£500.00 / £500.00 raised] ***
I will donate my contribution in February. Probably to the Owen Ridge Beer Fund.
