Christmas theme

Post by orudge »

It's Christmas time, nearly! If you're still seeing the standard TT theme, or a mish-mash of Christmas and standard themes, do a hard refresh in your browser. If anybody notices any problems that aren't related to them not having hard refreshed their browser, let me know!

If you don't like the Christmas theme, go to your user control panel, preferences, and choose "Transport Tycoon (temperate)" from the board style list.

The default theme on the forums is the "Transport Tycoon" theme, which in the (Northern Hemisphere) winter is set to the sub-arctic (Christmas) theme, with it being the temperate theme otherwise.

The "Transport Tycoon (temperate)" theme is fixed on temperate all year round, introduced last year to satisfy those people who kept complaining about the Christmas theme year after year.

If you've got the Temperate theme selected explicitly, then obviously you will have to change your theme in the UCP. If you've got the normal theme selected, then you'll just need to do a hard refresh to ensure your files are updated properly.

I thought I had already fixed this, and indeed I had - it's just phpBB hadn't refreshed its template cache properly when I told it to. Now fixed.

Well, about time, I think we kept reporting that problem every year since you upgraded to phpBB 3 :P

I don't particularly like the Christmas theme
probably because my eyes go really hazy on white backgrounds...

Hmmm, ever since getting this snow theme by Chrome has been crashing very frequently - it never crashed at all before unless a shockwave or flash box went crazy. I'm sure it is completely unrelated to the change in the forum but I thought I'd mention it in case other people had a problem too.

Oh don't be such a wimpy kid! This theme is comfortable after 2-3 days. The temperate hurts my eyes when that returns too!

Maybe your screen brightness is too high if this hurts your eyes. I dim the brightness on my screens, particularly in the early morning and the evening (indeed, I have an application called Flux for Windows that does this) - try it.

Also, no whining about the Christmas theme - I implemented the "forced temperate" theme last year to stop all this whining! :P

Well, I fixed it last year, I just need to remember to force phpBB to refresh its templates cache when changing the theme.
