Ten years of the forums!
Yes, today is the 10th birthday of The Transport Tycoon Forums! How can ten years have gone by so quickly? We've had all kinds of excitement over the past 1.03 million posts, and those who have been here since 2002 have witnessed the heyday of TTDPatch, the excitement surrounding the release of Locomotion, the birth of OpenTTD, and many more notable events. We've had ups and downs, but the community has prospered, and I'd just like to thank every one of you (except the spammers) for your contributions, whether you've been here 10 years or 10 days.
Here's to another ten years.

Congratulations on running a fun community for 10 years Owen. It doesn't feel old anywhere and the community indeed prospered. Let's hope for more of that and many more years of this community.
Re: Ten years of the forums!
hooray for 10 years!
I've only been here a year-and-a-half but I've been playing TTDP (and then OTTD) for (give or take a few weeks) 10 years

Why is this site so steadfast?
Time runs deep when good characters cast.
Differences arise as they are want to do.
Fine tuned moderation prevents a zoo.
The games we enjoy are all so vast.
This site could do no less than last.

Hah, I joined here when I was 13 years old. I'm now 21. In 2017, I will have been a member for over half my life. Good, good. It's very nice of you to keep us here for so long, Owen. I now feel old.

Re: Ten years of the forums!
The World Wide Web has been around since 1991, so as of next year, TT-Forums will have been around for half the time the Web as a whole has existed. (My own site, now owenrudge.net, has been around since 1999, some 13 years out of 21!)Chrill wrote:Hah, I joined here when I was 13 years old. I'm now 21. Re: Ten years of the forums!
You can come and work for the Dutch government, they are going to do that the coming 4 years. The two largest parties here have agreed on the policy for the next years, and they named their agreement "Building bridges".Lord Aro wrote:(I am told that all i did was bankrupt myself by building huge bridges, but it still counts, no?)
But on-topic: Congratulations, I've only been around for like 1.5 year, but I have to say it was all very interesting, hope to stay around for some more years.
