*** Forum fundraiser 2011 [£603.82 / £600 raised] ***
So, it's that time of year again - time for the annual forum donation drive!
The forums are continuing to grow, with just under 130 million hits in 2010, and 2.8TB of HTTP bandwidth used (a 36% increase on 2009!). Alas, such vast amounts of bandwidth, plus the server power needed for this place, does cost a bit. Advertising makes up a certain amount of the costs, but unfortunately not as much as it once did. Therefore, this year's fundraiser has been set for £600 ($935, €720). If you could spare even just a few pounds, dollars, euros, or whatever currency you use, to help the forums, it'd be appreciated.
Instead of a single large donation, you may wish to consider sending a regular monthly donation, if this is something you can afford. Hosting for the forums is paid monthly, so this can help to spread things around a bit. If you'd be interested in donating like this, please let me know.
You can find the donation page here. Donations can be taken by PayPal and direct bank transfer. Within the UK, I can also accept cheques and postal orders. Within the US, I can accept checks and money orders (although since I'm not physically in the US at the moment, this may be a bit of a pain to deal with). If there is another way you would like to donate, let me know and we can figure something out. Your donations are very much appreciated.
(GBP) (USD) (EUR)
If you don't want to, or can't, send a monetary donation, you can use our Amazon affiliate links when you shop at Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com or Amazon.ca. Again, the donations page here explains that.
Please note that donations to OpenTTD are NOT donations for the forums; the forums and OpenTTD are unconnected (although I do receive donations for both). To donate to the forums, please use this link, not the link on the OpenTTD web site.
Thank you all for your support. Please let me know if you have any questions. (This announcement will be removed in the future.)
CURRENT TOTAL DONATED: £603.82 / £600

I'm happy to donate again this year but I want to divide my donations this year between tt-forums.net and OpenTTD.org. Also, last year I payed you a monthly fee, do you prefer that again?

Yes, that's certainly possible, and I think that would probably be good. Feel free to PM me and we can get something set up. Thanks!

Not since the last fundraiser, if memory serves me correctly. As always, your contributions are appreciated.

Will donate! I'm sure I can squeeze in a few thousand yen into out of this month's budget towards the forums!

Just got a little money on my account, so I gave ten euros.
Thanks for maintaining this forum.

I am little, ugly, and nasty. How do you do?
Re: *** Forum fundraiser 2011 [£150.06 / £600 raised] ***
This rather unsightly chap, exuding various aromas and much in need of a bath accosted me on the street with a request for a dollar for a [strikethrough]bottle[/strikethrough] cup of coffee. I thought this was you. Apparently I was mistaken.orudge wrote:So, it's that time of year again - time for the annual forum donation drive!
Just a thought, but the Government of Canada, in it's wisdom (oxymoronic expression) has decided that our one cent coin must meet it's end, apparently costing 1.5 cents to make. If you come to Canada with a bucket with which to collect all those poor orphaned coins, you could, when it is legally permissible, melt them for a profit :
100,000 @ 1 cent = $1,000.00
Cost to melt into copper ingots = $990.00
tt-forums profit = $10.00
Or, you could simply PM me with a method with which to make a monthly contribution.

Alas the spammers even invade this thread. I think the "ability to send a punch to the face via TCP/ICP protocol" forum function is long overdue!
Anyways, I would donate but I have to orchestrate the immigration of my wife and two kiddlings (and our meager belongings) to England's fair shores in a matter of weeks. Ergo, money is tight, but if the drive is still going when we land, I'll throw in a couple of quid where I can.
