Page is white and snowy one minute, then suddenly green again.
My eyes just went all weird during that switch!

Regarding the css issue you can use this code:

div.divClass a {color: ... }
then only a-tags inside divs with the divClass class will be affected.

I use subsilver so i dont know if the issue already have been resolved but couldnt see any responses indicating that while skimming this thread.

If people are still seeing the old theme, or parts of it, a hard refresh (CTRL-F5 in most Windows browsers) should fix things. If you still have problems, clearing your cache should do it. Time for this topic to be locked now. :)
