A note about swearing

Post by orudge »

As you will no doubt all know, swearing is forbidden according to the forum rules. In recent months, some users have generally got away with this however, mainly in the Off-Topic forums. This post is just to let you all know though that the moderation team will be taking a harder line on such matters from now on. If you use such words in your posts, expect to receive an unofficial warning from a moderator the first time, and from then on, any such further abuse will result in a formal warning - which could lead to a ban.

There are many lovely expressive words in the English language, I see no reason why people should have to resort to such crude terms here. Save it for the pub/playground/wherever.

If you have any questions or comments, please do post them here.

I feel this thread is getting too OT for the news forum.

No, but it's considered very annoying by me (not just on the forums; I just find it to be an incredibly irritating and stupid meme), so I wouldn't advise you use it. ;)

As for your mention of IRC, Jamie, this is of course a forum policy and only applicable to the forums, although I certainly don't encourage such language on IRC either.

All well and good, but if we're going to do that, I'd like to see the swear filter reintroduced as a mandatory measure.

Hmm, that would seem to be sensible, do others agree?

swearing is not necessary profanity, some times it cuts back on very distasteful expressive descriptions used with many lovely innocent words.

by the way am i the only one who think, that the lion roar in the tropical climate sound like a digestion malfunction gone wrong :!:
and dont mean that mild kind i mean the kind that you go  after, i think its very vulgar and rude :!:

and as for the swear filter

Use real words. Deliberately pushing the rules to see how far you can go will get you banned.

The swear filter is there as a last resort for parents who don't want their kids reading bad language. Just because you don't trigger the filter doesn't mean your post is okay.

Well, perhaps think of it as: don't use words you wouldn't say to your grandma around the dinner table. Or wouldn't say to your neighbour's 8-year-old son. Basically, this is a forum about a transport game, and there really isn't need to use bad language.

Sigh... - injoke between me and Jolteon, stop trying to interpret it (and plus you interpreted it completely the wrong way). You really don't have to comment on everything you know.
